🧶 Welcome to the Circular Machine Knitting Community! 💛
I’m so glad you’re here. This community was created to help circular machine knitters move from overwhelmed and confused… to confident creators finishing projects they’re proud of. Whether you’re brand new to machine knitting or have been cranking for years, you’re in the right place. 📌 Your First Steps To get started, here are the first things I recommend: 1️⃣ Watch the Beginner’s Course (CMK or iCord depending on what you’re learning) 2️⃣ Introduce yourself in the community feed Tell us: - What machine you use (Addi, Sentro, etc.) - Your experience level - What you’re excited to learn - 3️⃣Participate and earn rewards by liking and commenting on other's posts. 💛 As you engage in the community and earn points, you’ll begin unlocking rewards starting at Level 2. You can see all of the rewards in the Classroom section. 💛 Our Community Culture We work hard to keep this a supportive, spam-free community where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and sharing their projects. A few quick reminders: • No spam or outside promotions • Be kind and supportive to other members • While we love all crafts, please keep posts focused on Circular Machine Knitting except for our Show & Tell Post on Sunday. This helps keep the community helpful and easy to navigate for everyone. 🧶 Membership Options Everyone starts with Standard (Free) membership which includes: • Access to the community • The Beginner’s Circular Machine Knitting Course with 2 Patterns • The Beginner’s iCord Course If you want access to more patterns and learning, you can upgrade anytime. 💛 Premium $1usd a month or $10usd a year • Beginner’s Pattern Library • Two new beginner patterns added each month • Yarn Reviews • Additional learning resources 🚀 VIP $10usd a month or $99usd a year Everything in Premium plus: • Full Pattern Library • Courses and advanced classes • Crafting hours with the admin team • Design and business training • Strategy support VIP is where many members go when they want to deeply expand their skills, design their own projects, or even start turning their knitting into income.

💛 Community Rules Refresher – And Why We Have Them 🧶
As our community continues to grow, I thought it would be a good time for a quick refresher on our rules and, more importantly, why they exist. The goal isn't to create a bunch of restrictions. The goal is to protect the supportive, encouraging, and drama-free community that we've all worked so hard to build. 💛 1. 😊 Be Positive We all have bad days, but this is a place for encouragement, support, and solutions. No negativity, personal attacks, or drama. We're here to build each other up, not tear each other down. 2. 🚫 No Self-Promotion Please do not direct members to non-approved Facebook groups, communities, websites, YouTube channels, or other platforms. Members joined this community to learn and connect here. Keeping discussions and resources inside the community helps everyone benefit. 🧶 Make an Effort This community works best when people participate. Ask questions. Share projects. Like posts. Leave comments. Encourage others. The more everyone participates, the stronger the community becomes. 📬 No Spamming Members Please don't send unsolicited messages, sales offers, or promotions to other members. We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable here. ❤️ Respect Designers Please do not ask for or share row counts from someone else's design. Designers put a lot of time, effort, and creativity into creating patterns, and we want to respect that work. 📚 Pattern Sharing by Permission Only Members are welcome to design and share patterns, but we ask that you first contact me to become a pre-approved pattern contributor. Why? Because we want to ensure patterns are organized, easy to find, and provide a great experience for members. Approved patterns will be placed in the Community Library rather than directing members outside the community. If you're interested in becoming a contributor, just send me a DM. 😊 🧵 Circular Machine Knitting & iCord Focus To keep the community organized, posts should be related to:

👕 VIP T-Shirt Challenge Starts Today! 🧶☀️
Today is Day 1 of our Create Your Own T-Shirt Challenge and I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with! Go to the calendar tab to see what time it is in your time zone and join. The goal of this challenge isn't just to make a t-shirt... It's to help you learn how to think through the design process so you can create garments that fit YOU, use your preferred yarn, and don't waste time or materials. 🌟 Who Is This For? This challenge is perfect for members who are comfortable using their knitting machine and are ready to take the next step. 💛 Beginner-friendly for those who know the basics of their machine 💛 Suitable for both Addi and Sentro users 💛 Can be completed using either panel mode or tube mode You do not need previous design experience to participate. 🧶 Today's Class We'll be covering: ✨ Design ideas and inspiration ✨ What measurements you need to take ✨ How to determine your yarn gauge ✨ How to use that information to create a custom pattern By the end of today's class, you'll have the information needed to start creating a t-shirt designed specifically for you. 📝 What You'll Need Please bring: ✏️ Pencil 🧽 Eraser 🧮 Calculator And of course your creativity! 😊 👕 Tomorrow's Class Tomorrow we'll: ✨ Review everyone's patterns ✨ Check numbers and measurements ✨ Make adjustments if needed ✨ Start working on our t-shirts This is where we'll make sure your pattern is set up for success before you start investing a lot of yarn and time. 💛 Why This Challenge Matters Learning to adjust and create patterns for yourself is one of the biggest skills you can develop as a maker. Instead of hoping a pattern fits... You'll learn how to make informed decisions that lead to garments you'll actually want to wear. And once you understand the process, you'll be able to use these same skills to adjust and design many other garments in the future. 👑 Want to Join the Challenge? Yarn weights and Tensions
Not all these yarns are suitable for machines. This is just a reference guide. 2 ply (also referred to as Lace Weight) 32-36 stitches and 42-46 rows to 10cm using 2.25mm – 2.75mm needles Extra-delicate and almost lighter than air. This yarn is generally used to knit very light-weight items such as shawls, scarfs and baby knits. 3 ply (also referred to as Fingering Weight) 33 stitches and 40 rows to 10cm using 3mm – 3.25mm needles Used for light-weight items such as shawls and baby garments. 4 ply (also referred to as Fingering, Sock or Baby Weight) 27-32 stitches and 36 rows to 10cm using 3.25mm - 3.75mm needles Used for lighter weight baby garments, shawls, fitted adult knits such as ladies jumpers and tops, delicate adult shawls, intarsia work, socks and amigurumi. 5 ply (also referred to as Sport or Baby Weight) 24-28 stitches and 34-36 rows to 10cm using 3.25mm – 3.575mm needles This yarn weight was used for knitting traditional Guernsey or ‘Gansy’ sweaters, a traditional fisherman’s jumper. It is also a common yarn weight in American. It creates a lightweight fabric so also makes it ideal for intarsia projects, baby and children’s garments. DK (also referred to as Light Worsted Weight or 8 ply) 22 stitches and 28-30 rows to 10cm using 4mm needles The most versatile of all the yarn weights. Can be used for baby garments, shawls, baby accessories, adult sweaters, cardigans, tops, scarves, hats, gloves, homewares, blankets, toys. Aran (also referred to as Worsted Weight or 10 ply) 18 stitches and 24 rows to 10cm using 5mm needles Traditionally used for traditional Aran style jumpers and cardigans with cable designs. Also used for blankets and other homewares, thicker garments for babies and adults and accessories such as scarves, hats and gloves/mittens. Chunky (also referred to as Bulky, 12 ply or 14 ply) 14 stitches and 19-20 rows to 10cm using 6mm – 6.5mm needles Good for thick and warm projects like winter jumpers, scarves, hats, blankets and home accessories. Also good for arm knitting. Creates super cosy makes that knit and crochet up quickly.
