As a gift to myself from myself for my recent promotion I purchased this vintage bottle of Creed Spice & Wood (250ML). This is the original 2010 formulation and presentation, and was verified by my Creed Rep. Due to #NoBuySept I had it scheduled to pick up today. This is one of those once in a lifetime purchases, and I very happy that I was able to find and get this fragrance.

A month ago, I was looking for an affordable yet bold fragrance that would make a statement whenever I wore it, and I saw a lot of Latin American reviewers always going back to old school fougère scents. This one stood out because it is extremely cheap and it seems like everybody in the 80s wore it in my country. A lot of people still buy it today, though. Especially older men. All that made me want to give it a try. The first time I wore it, the initial application was overpowering. It has a citrusy smell, but there was something I could not put my finger on. For me, if I need to describe it, it was a hint of cat’s piss. However, it quickly disappears. Then it smells like green soap, very clean, yet masculine. The drydown is smoky—tobacco and leather come to mind. In terms of performance, it is a very strong fragrance and it STAYS for DAYS, and it is kind of an addictive scent. When I spray it, the room gets impregnated for about 10 hours, and my wife can sense me when I am walking around the house. It is not a compliment-getter, but my wife loves it. She even enjoys the opening; she does not detect that “piss” smell. She says it feels like lemon. Her description is "it smells like a bold, mature, confident man". The first time, I made the mistake of wearing it with jeans and a polo shirt, and my wife kept looking around trying to find the well-dressed man this scent belonged to. It means you need to also establish your presence in other ways. If you wear this, you need to look the part. So it is not for everyone. I use it often, especially when it’s a bit chilly (50°F). It works well in most situations. I'd recommend dressing up a bit; maybe business casual to semi-formal wear. However, I have worn it in very casual situations, just because I like how it smells, and I can see that people, especially women, respond positively (smiles, looks, you know). I think it might work in formal situations and nights, but you need to pair it with a commanding and confident presence or you would just smell "outdated". So, budget for that.
