Thameens Bohemian London and Fanfare aren't bottles I reach for very often. My preferences usually drift toward darker, dirtier fragrances that contain resins, smoke, leather, earth, and all the wonderfully strange compositions that would probably make a Macy's fragrance counter nervous. That said, these two have earned a permanent place in my collection because they consistently get compliments. I wore Bohemian Infusion while spending the day at a construction worksite yesterday morning, and before long a scruffy stranger asked what I was wearing. It was a good reminder that, despite my tendency to chase more challenging and unconventional scents, Fanfare and Bohemian London have always been among the easiest fragrances to wear during the summer and some of the biggest compliment magnets in my collection. I think the magic lies in it's heart rather than its opening. The bright citrus notes certainly make a polished first impression, but it's the middle stage where artemisia, longoza, cinnamon, and myrtle come together that keeps drawing me back when I remember it's in my collection. Artemisia adds a dry, aromatic green quality, while myrtle contributes a clean herbal freshness. Longoza lends an unusual spicy-floral warmth, and the cinnamon is thankfully used with restraint here, providing just enough gentle spice without ever becoming gourmand or overpowering for me. These notes give the citrus opening a refined backbone and prevent it from fading into another generic fresh citrus heavy summer fragrance. Instead, the composition develops into something effortlessly elegant, with enough character to remain interesting while still being broadly appealing.
