SOTD: SILKY WOODS Harrods edition!!!
Been wearing Goldfield & Banks – Silky Woods (Harrods Edition) and it’s basically the OG Silky Woods with the “luxury dial” turned up: smoother, richer, a little darker, and more put-together. What it smells like (to me): Imagine a creamy sandalwood/vanilla-amber base that feels polished instead of sugary, with a soft, almost “cashmere” texture. It’s not loud-spicy or smoky-oudy—more like warm woods + resinous sweetness + a subtle plush spice that stays tight and elegant. If the original is cozy and easy, the Harrods Edition feels more refined and more decadent. Opening: Right away I get this smooth, slightly resinous sweetness (amber/vanilla vibe) with a gentle spicy glow. No harsh blast, no alcohol punch—just a clean, glossy start. Drydown (the best part): This is where it earns the name. It goes silky/creamy wood with that warm ambered sweetness sitting underneath. It reads “expensive” in a quiet way—like a well-made sweater and a nice watch, not a nightclub flex. Performance (on me): - Longevity: strong (all-day type) - Projection: first 1–2 hours it’s noticeable, then it settles into a confident bubble - Sillage: moderate—people close to you will catch it, but it won’t fog a room When I’d wear it: Cool weather is ideal, but it works in A/C too. Perfect for date night, dinner, dressed-up casual, holidays. It’s a “comfort scent” that still feels grown. Vibe check: Warm, smooth, slightly sweet woods. Not sticky gourmand, not barnyard oud, not incense-heavy. Just luxury woody-amber with a soft glow. If you’re deciding: - Like the original Silky Woods but want it richer / smoother / more special → this is the move. - If you hate sweet/amber bases or want sharp freshies → probably not your lane. Rating: 8.5/10 Not reinventing the wheel, but it’s a beautiful wheel with leather seats.
