Haven't worn any spicebomb in a while and was in the mood for some today. Metallic Musk landed in 2025, created by master perfumer Jean‑Christophe Hérault, the same nose behind my beloved Spicebomb Extreme, Spicebomb Infrared, and even Creed Aventus, to name just a few. Straight away you can pick up that beautiful spicy DNA I loved in the original Spicebomb, but here it’s reworked into something lighter: it carries that familiar warmth, but adds a sharp, clean freshness that sits right alongside the spice, a balance that feels both familiar and totally new.
The opening hits with a crisp, bright freshness that earns that “metallic” description honestly, a blend of aldehydes, bergamot & elemi gives it a zesty, almost polished‑metal sparkle, immediately grounded by a punch of black pepper that delivers that classic Spicebomb kick. Moving into the heart, the spice builds with cinnamon & pimento, while a soft touch of lavender adds a clean aromatic lift so it never feels heavy or cluttered. The drydown is where the name makes perfect sense: a luminous, radiant white musk forms the core, wrapping you in a clean, sensual warmth, supported by a unique silver suede accord that brings a refined, smooth leather‑like texture. Rounding it off are ambrette & labdanum, adding subtle depth without weighing it down.
Compared to the original Spicebomb, this is lighter, cleaner & fresher, it dials back the heavy, rich spices, replacing them with that bright musky‑suede finish, making it far more versatile and wearable even in warmer weather. It shares that same peppery opening with Spicebomb Extreme, but Extreme is darker, boozier and heavier on tobacco, whereas Metallic Musk stays bright & airy. You’ll also spot faint echoes of Versace Eros in the fresh‑spicy start, but this one feels more grown‑up and less synthetic. Performance is exactly what you’d expect from this perfumer: 7+ hours easily on skin, staying warm and present all the way, with a comfortable “scent bubble” that’s noticeable without shouting. It projects well for the first 3–4 hours then settles close, and I suspect it will last even longer once the colder months roll in. Solid, reliable, and fresh enough to earn a spot at number 10 in my rotation.
