SOTD: Chanel Platinum Égoïste
With summer officially underway and a big day ahead as the BookTube Prize moves into the semifinals, I decided to reach for a classic: Chanel Platinum Égoïste.
Released in 1993 and created by Jacques Polge, Platinum Égoïste opens with rosemary, lavender, neroli, and petitgrain before moving into a heart of geranium, clary sage, and jasmine. The base is a refined blend of oakmoss, vetiver, cedar, sandalwood, and amber.
Wearing it today, I'm reminded why this fragrance has endured for more than three decades. It manages to feel crisp, clean, and professional without ever becoming boring. The lavender and rosemary give it a bright aromatic freshness, while the geranium adds that distinctive metallic edge that makes Platinum Égoïste instantly recognizable.
To my nose, this is one of the best examples of a fragrance that smells confident rather than flashy. It's polished, mature, and effortlessly put together. Perfect for the office, business meetings, lunch dates, or any occasion where you want to smell sharp without drawing attention to yourself. A classic for a reason.
