SOTD: Blue Stratos edt 19/04/2026
A drugstore classic from an age gone by. This is about as old as I am and defined masculine freshness in the mid 70s. Best known for that blue bottle and seagull logo, it's kinda hard to aquire now. Originally released by Shulton in 1974, there is no perfumer credited with its creation, and it's passed through various companies over the years. I still like to break this one out every now and again for a touch of barbershop vibes. Might this be the original bluey?
The scent was marketed with imagery of hang gliding & the ocean, embodying the 1970s ideal of the outdoorsy, adventurous man. Its incredibly clean, like a highend grooming kit from a vintage barbershop. It’s manly without being heavy or overbearing. It transitions from zesty citrus to a warm, woody base. Like a lighter, more wearable version of Kouros or a fresher take on Old Spice. It opens with a sharp, energizing burst of Lime, Lemon & Bergamot. The heart is a classic herbal blend of Lavender, Geranium, & Patchouli, which gives it that barbershop feel. The base is a lingering warmth of Musk, Oakmoss & Cedarwood, which maintains its masculine, darker dry down.
As an Eau de Toilette its longevity is more like a splash cologne. You can expect 60 to 90m of good projection after which the scent bubble shrinks right back to a skin scent. Total skin time is about 5 hrs. Great for daytime wear, gym, or casual outings. Blue Stratos is a time capsule. It’s the perfect choice for someone who wants a masculine, dramatic, fresh scent that doesn't rely on modern trends like vanilla or heavy spice. A must for any collection
