Slay the Scent: Odyssey Aoud by Armaf

I guess this is Armaf's attempt to take a stab at an Oud for Greatness style fragrance. In my opinion, the only one that comes close to the Initio Original is Lattafa's Oud for Glory. In fairness they do have it in the ballpark, but it lacks that knockout.I've had my nose on many of these Odyssey flankers and the only one that I enjoyed was Odyssey Black. This is a woody spicy fragrance. Released in 2023 as part of the popular Odyssey collection.

It starts off with a vibrant, aromatic opening, where a prominent trio of saffron, nutmeg & lavender creates a spicy, slightly medicinal & clean introduction. As the fragrance transitions into the heart, the agarwood takes center stage, supported by a blend of woody notes that provide a dry, sturdy structure without being overly animalic or harsh. The dry down is where the fragrance finds its l depth; a base of patchouli, ambroxan &musk creates a smooth, earthy, and slightly sweet trail that lingers on the skin, giving the oud a velvety finish that feels both modern and masculine.

In terms of performance, Odyssey Oud is a heavy hitter that punches well above its weight class. It offers impressive longevity, typically lasting between 8 to 10 hours on skin and even longer on clothing, while the projection is strong for the first two hours before settling into a consistent, noticeable scent bubble. Due to its dense, warm, and spicy character, it is best suited for the fall and winter months, as cold air helps to temper its intensity. It is a quintessential evening fragrance, making it an excellent choice for formal occasions, date nights, or any event where you want to project an aura of confidence and mystery.
