Match #44
Match #44 in the second-chance bracket is an elimination battle between two polar opposites: Givenchy Gentleman Original versus Swiss Arabian Shaghaf Oud Azraq.
Givenchy Gentleman Original (1974 and 2024, created by Paul Léger) is classic masculinity in a bottle—a warm blend of patchouli, leather, spices, vetiver, and woods. It's mature without feeling stuffy, and I can comfortably see wearing it through fall, winter, and spring.
Shaghaf Oud Azraq (2022) is an entirely different experience. Honey, oud, vanilla, cinnamon, and amber make this a rich, sweet, powerful cold-weather fragrance. I had actually been considering selling my bottle, so I'm glad this tournament made me revisit it. I'm starting to think it deserves another chance once winter arrives.
But surviving my collection and surviving the tournament are two different things. Side by side, I still prefer the balance and classic character of the Givenchy.
Givenchy Gentleman Original advances in the second-chance bracket, while Shaghaf Oud Azraq is eliminated from the tournament—but perhaps not from my shelf.
