Fragrance Longevity

I hear a lot of comments about the longevity of a fragrance and I guess being new to the fragrance community (less than one year) I am not understanding the concern. Since I started I have always been more concerned with projection than longevity. I want not only me, but the people around me to be able to smell my fragrance. I am not talking about overpowering them, but if they are within 2 feet of me then they should be able to smell me. I started decanting my own fragrances (for myself, not to sell) so that I could always have the SOTD in my bag or pocket. It is a very safe way to transport the fragrance and with it only being about 5ML to 8ML, there is not concerns about temperature differences (you won't have the decant that long if you wear it often. Since I respray every 3 to 4 hours (depending on the fragrance) then longevity to me is not a real concern.
