Day 3 - Santorini
God this island is beautiful. Torn about 4000 years ago, it still has some activity, but you'd never know from how serene and beautiful the waters are. I will say this, though, if you hate stairs and don't like going upwards the entire time you are on the island, quite literally both directions, then Santarini is pretty to look at from the boat.
And of course, leave it to me to find the ONE perfume store on the island. hidden down a set of stairs, it's called the Perfumé Bar. He didn't carry much, but the real star of the store was his homemade fragrances that he made there in the shop. He had about a doze, and they were very reasonably priced. I ended up picking one called Amoudi Bay. He doesn't post his notes, and he declined to give them to me, telling me it was a mystery and the fun is in discovering how the scent progresses over time.
My inital impression is that it smells woody and aromatic with a bit of marine notes. It's a good year round scent, but will probably be better suited for spring and summer. Price was very reasonable: €14 for 30 mL; €17 for 50mL, and €23 for 100mL. I picked up the 30mL because I was worried about transportation, and I honestly prefer the smaller sized bottles to the larger ones.
Tomorrow, we go to Crete, and I'm excited to see what's there.
