Q&A with Mike Andes is happening in 16 days
Introduction from Stanwood, WA
I am married to my wife Hannah. We have known each other since we were 15, and have been together for 6.5 years. She teaches 4th grade. We've got our dog Coco (that we may love more than each other) and my mom lives with us in a shop we converted into a small in-law suite. We are 27 years old, and are working towards starting our family, with the goal of Hannah being able to stay at home to raise the kids. I was born in Texas, lived there for 8 years, then moved to Colorado for 3 years, and have been in Washington since. I started at Augusta before P4P or the franchise existing in spring 2019 as a field tech, two years in the field before I thought about owning a location. I lived out of a van subsisting on energy drinks, ramen and canned beans, saving up to start my own location. During covid, when the gym shut down and I couldn't shower most days. I started my location in 2021 through the 3F program and ran it profitably for four years. A couple years ago Mike asked me to take the role of Owner Success Manager for the franchise. I sold my location about a year in to the new role, because I wanted to be fully in on helping our owners. Today I support our franchise owners across 200+ locations, I'm still regional manager for our Bellingham location, and my job is to build coaching systems and support that lead to owner success. I believe leadership is the root of everything, and business is a game of mastering your own mind. I am motivated by helping/seeing others succeed, and find it very important to manage myself physically and mentally well so I can show up at my best for others. Some of my hobbies include gardening, hiking, biking, working out, any board sport, and anything else involving being outside in nature. I'm happy to be part of this group, and very excited about the focus on health as the foundation of everything.
Introduction from East Surrey, BC
Greetings from the great white north. I'm Alex from East Surrey. I am happily Married with 4 boys, aged 12, 10, 8, & 18 months. Our house is pure chaos and beyond busy with 3 boys playing competitive hockey, and Lacrosse year round. The 1st 20+ years of my professional life were spent building a lucrative career in heavy construction. I hold 2 Red Seal trades tickets in Carpentry & Pile Driving, I am a gold seal superintendent, and one semester short of a bachelors degree in Construction management. I operated my own company from 2016-2023 where I often managed revenue around $1m per year building highway bridges and industrial foundations. In 2023 I was on track for the best year yet having completed over $900k in the first 6 months of the year. In June of that year my Father was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer and I wasn't able to push off going to see him any longer with the excuse that work had to happen. Without my presence my business collapsed and we lost our best client. I knew that I needed to figure something better out if I was going to maintain a better relationship with my kids than I had with my own Dad. One late night I came across Mikes content on Youtube and I was hooked. Mike talked about all the things i struggled with in all my experience as an owner operator. I knew a recurring model was the best move for me and Augusta would be the quickest way to adapt. I joined Augusta in January of Last year with no previous lawn and landscape maintenance experience. After connecting with all the other Augusta operators in my area I began helping my neighbour Bryon Hall (Langley). After a few months we figured out that our personalities were complimentary and we agreed on a deal for me to acquire 51% of Langley. We then started Maple Ridge in December of 2025. Its been a wild ride this spring learning the ins and outs of Lawn Care and a service based business. We just cracked $100k/mth in revenue across the 3 locations and that has left me feeling super excited and hungry for what is possible in this industry.
Intro From Augusta, Ga
I have lived in Augusta, Ga all of my life - 39 years. Married for 12 years this coming October. amber and I have 2 boys - Cayden (8), Jaxon (5 in July). my wife is also a business owner and owns a bakery, “sinless sweets”. My partner (Jeremy Owen’s) and I own 4 Augusta Lawn Care Locations. Our partnership dynamic is pretty sweet - Jeremy is operations and I am Sales/vision. I most likely would have sold my business for the value of my equipment back in 2018 had he not answered a Facebook job ad. Our mission is “mow money, mow dreams”. We aim to offer the most amount of $$ mowing grass to our field team, and while we are at it, give direction and assistance toward our team member’s next steps. Whether those steps are with us or not, we want to do what we can to assist in their move up in life. We have promoted 4 field team members to General manager. I know that part of the reason God put me on this earth is to help coach others toward success. Our next 3 years is focused on building our current region, which will be 6-7 locations. I am stoked to be able to promote my partner from GM to regional Manager. After that, we will continue building as many locations/ regions as the good Lord sees fit. Our 4 locations have 16 field team members, 4 GM’s, and 2 office staff. We will do right at $3M this year and finished last year at $2.45M. My biggest struggle currently is bridging the skills gap of becoming the Regional Manager and leader that I would want to hire and that my team needs. This is my first year of not doing sales and focusing on managing managers. The biggest struggle in the business is solving Q4 collapse. This would completely change how much distributable cash we would be able to share to our GM’s + owners.
Hi from Southern Utah!
Two and a half years ago, we converted our previous lawn care brand into two Augusta Lawn Care locations, though we have been in business for 13.5 years in total. We have one location on track to do $750k this year, and another that will do around $350k. Both are run by GMs. I am currently thrilled with my position, but historically, retaining GMs for more than a year or two has been a struggle. On a positive note, one of my current GMs is actively saving to start his own Augusta location in Northern Utah in the next couple of years. I look forward to getting to know and learning from each of you.
