30 Day MacroFactor challenge
In my 20s, I was highly active—running marathons and playing sports. However, when I turned 30, I got married & my focus shifted toward being a provider; I was balancing a full-time job while launching my business. Over the last 5+ years, the business has required less physical labor from me, and I’ve watched my weight creep up. In December 2025, having never lifted weights before, I decided to start training to get stronger and feel better. Since then, I’ve been pushing toward benching 300 lbs on my 45th birthday (in 8 days), and I’m hopeful I’ll hit it. Once that's locked in, my next phase is dropping 30 pounds of fat while maintaining muscle. I’ve had a solid 3-day workout routine since December, but I'm bumping up the frequency for this month (and possibly longer term). The course was a great reminder of just how much nutrition affects how we feel. I’m also looking forward to using the app—travel usually throws me off my workout game and leaves me guessing what to do, so this will eliminate any excuses. I am committing to the MacroFactor challenge, though for personal reasons, I will be skipping my Sunday workouts.

@Brent Banks Thats awesome man! its pretty bad ass to say you've benched 300! even more to do it at 45! I used to do reps of 315 in my 20's, makes me wonder how long it would take to get back there 🤔

I have been blessed with having a workout program and tracking my nutrients engrained as a habit from an early age. I have been working out and tracking since I was 15. These habits have served me well and lifting is what first gave me confidence as a teenager. I can definitely tell the difference in my ability to handle stress if I have been inconsistent with my workouts. What did I learn from the video: 1.) there are 24” from my mouth to the table. 2.) I have been on “maintenance” level activity for about 3 years and only weight training 3 days a week. Listening to the video reminded me that just because I do not care to gain any more muscle, the hard activity is still important and will most definitely have a positive impact on my week. I am excited to be challenged to add daily hard workouts and see the difference.

Introduction from East Surrey, BC
Greetings from the great white north. I'm Alex from East Surrey. I am happily Married with 4 boys, aged 12, 10, 8, & 18 months. Our house is pure chaos and beyond busy with 3 boys playing competitive hockey, and Lacrosse year round. The 1st 20+ years of my professional life were spent building a lucrative career in heavy construction. I hold 2 Red Seal trades tickets in Carpentry & Pile Driving, I am a gold seal superintendent, and one semester short of a bachelors degree in Construction management. I operated my own company from 2016-2023 where I often managed revenue around $1m per year building highway bridges and industrial foundations. In 2023 I was on track for the best year yet having completed over $900k in the first 6 months of the year. In June of that year my Father was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer and I wasn't able to push off going to see him any longer with the excuse that work had to happen. Without my presence my business collapsed and we lost our best client. I knew that I needed to figure something better out if I was going to maintain a better relationship with my kids than I had with my own Dad. One late night I came across Mikes content on Youtube and I was hooked. Mike talked about all the things i struggled with in all my experience as an owner operator. I knew a recurring model was the best move for me and Augusta would be the quickest way to adapt. I joined Augusta in January of Last year with no previous lawn and landscape maintenance experience. After connecting with all the other Augusta operators in my area I began helping my neighbour Bryon Hall (Langley). After a few months we figured out that our personalities were complimentary and we agreed on a deal for me to acquire 51% of Langley. We then started Maple Ridge in December of 2025. Its been a wild ride this spring learning the ins and outs of Lawn Care and a service based business. We just cracked $100k/mth in revenue across the 3 locations and that has left me feeling super excited and hungry for what is possible in this industry.

@Brent Banks Thank you! This was my first year experiencing the Spring rush and it did not disappoint. I've been in some stressful positions in the past running big projects with tight timelines, but spring rush in this industry is a whole other beast. Juggling Sales, Hiring, Trying to manage, Marketing, cash flow, and throw in the customer complaints and it nearly broke me. Tons of respect for anyone running multiple crews in the residential industry, its a wild ride! And yes, our cash position is already looking way better as we head into summer.

@Brent Banks I had a manager lined up this spring, I even sent him to Bellingham for training last fall. Unfortunately we overestimated his ability, and underestimated the complexity of the location he was supposed to manage. The highest producing location is our most complex right now, 50% projects, and we are dependent on the cash so it was critical that it performed well this year. We are going to move him into my up and coming location next spring, its strictly simple services so i'm confident he will do far better with less pressure and complexity. I also hope to have someone in the pipeline for my 3rd location by the end of spring 2027.

I've been in and out of fitness most of my adult life, I enjoy setting goals and working towards them with relentless effort but lack consistency when my energy is focused on other challenges. In my intro I shared that I was a semester away from a degree in construction management, I never finished that because I allowed all the negative things Mike talked about in the video occur after I moved out of the field and into the office full time. After a year and half of neglect I was in the worst mental and Physical condition of my adult life and I quit. I blamed the position not being a good fit for me, but lated realized it was me lacking the knowledge and discipline to control myself in that new environment. 10 years later and I feel pumped to have the opportunity to try this again, with more knowledge, the support of this community, and the structure and encouragement of this program. Things I found informative with the course were tracking macros, I always assumed that was for fitness obsessed people. I know tracking workouts helps you stay consistent but never thought to also use that for nutritional awareness. The video also made me consider my role in the business this year, and how the majority of my day is filled leading people. I remembered all the days I didn't sleep great or eat well and how i avoided hard things and generally did a poor job as a leader. It made me reflect on how important it is to bring your best if you expect the best.
