Are you in your very Chinese time of your life?
I'm going to share the news "Everyone is turning "Chinese" social media trend".
My initial thought about this was the"ven" thing, which went viral couple months ago.
But after watching the shorts, it's about teaching others how to be Chinese by adapting some habits of Asian people, such as drinking warm water and having congee in the morning, wearing slippers at home, and cooking boiled apple(?) and ginger(?) by themselves.
I think this trend is interesting but also oversimplified and it could go wrong easily.
For me, it's not 'classic Chinese/Asian' enough, because I think most people don't care about hot water until they get older, and I never heard anyone boiling apple & ginger to drink (I personally love brown sugar+ginger).
At the same time I was surprised that they try to embrace some cultures of Chinese, because back in pandemic time, they were very harsh on Asian people.
I think if they want to be a Chinese, they can watch "fresh off the boat" as a reference and have a second thought.
