Nervous systems x 2 in overwhelm
📅 Daily Check-in - August 10, 2026
💭 Reflection:
"Oh boy - glad today is over. I think I could have blinked and happily missed it. My youngest didn't get to school. It was too overwhelming. I broke everything down into 2 min steps so small that in theory his guard wouldn't notice and let them through. It was going well until I started hitting some resistance about putting his shoes on. All of a sudden, his nervous system clocked that going to school was getting real. I managed to take him a little further. He checked his school bag (just a cursory glance but that's ok) and went and sat in the lounge. But when it came to leaving for school - his nervous system shut down completely on me and that was the end of all progress for the day. He made lots of wins to get there which are worth celebrating. The one issue I had was with me. I allowed my nervous system to get shot as well. I tried so hard to remain cool, calm and collected. Did you know that I clocked up over 5,100 actual steps in doing the micro-steps going between our two rooms that are adjacent to each other? I didn't think it was possible - no wonder I'm exhausted!"
