My week turned a corner
📅 Daily Check-in - August 15, 2026
💭 Reflection:
"Second day on the trot that my youngest has gone to school happy. He was going to be a marshall for the school cross country - but the heavy rain put paid to that! He still had a fantastic day and he had his enrolment interview at the high school. The interviewer was quite understanding about his ADHD and mulitple head injuries that he's still recovering from. They can't offer any additional support so we're still stuck on the same record track. But that's ok. He's positive and that's the most important thing.
I spent the evening at White Cross with my eldest. Football training was futsal which is hard on his body. I told the coaches a white lie (talk about double standards from me!) and took him to get his leg looked at. Long story short - he was taken out at a tournament in Christchurch and his leg has been bothersome ever since. No fractures which is a relief. But because it's on the bony part of the shin, they suspect he's bruised it badly and it's not getting a chance to recover. When we said that he's going to Australia for a tournament in a month, the doctor felt that it was too soon but he wasn't going to tell my son to stop playing football. So he's still going - he wants to go. Fingers crossed his leg holds out.
As for me personally? I managed to finally get back onto my paid work. I started untangling a couple of things - well it's more understanding than untangling. It's was wonderful to have that time to do it at last. I felt positive all day. I even managed a 1min cold shower for the first time - wahoo!"
