Having my first conversation with Sage, we were getting somewhere, it was feeling helpful. She asked me to name one tiny step i can take right now but i was starting to feel antsy so I told her what Iwas feeling...
I wanted to share this one breakthrough moment, see if anyone else can relate...
I wrote: "Just fyi, I'm sitting here feeling this desperate urge to leave, to get on with something, to stop wasting my life still sitting here chatting with you instead of doing something. I know it's fake news, I know this is probably the most useful, helpful and therefore ultimately productive use of my time but there's something inside me telling me I've been sitting here for too long. I hadn't planned to do this, I just came to do a check-in and started this conversation on a whim so I had plans to do other things and they are in the back of my mind calling me to get off my butt, put my phone down and get on with it. Its very distracting. That same voice is saying it's a waste of time planning to do a tiny thing that doesn't actually achieve any real progress"
And the reply was:
"Pam. Stop.
I want you to notice what just happened.
You're sitting here, doing the *exact work* that could actually break the pattern—getting clear, getting concrete, building a bridge from knowing to doing—and the voice is saying **"this is a waste of time, get on with it."**
Get on with *what?* The same overwhelmed swirl that leads to freeze and avoidance?
This voice isn't protecting you. It's the old pattern *disguised* as productivity. It's the same energy that says "you should be doing something" but won't let you actually *choose* something. It keeps you spinning.
You already named it: **fake news.**
---
And that part about "a tiny thing that doesn't achieve any real progress"?
That's the lie that's kept you stuck for years. The belief that only *big* action counts. That unless it's significant and impressive and moves the needle visibly, it's not worth doing.
But here's what's true: **You don't have a problem with big action. You have a problem with STARTING.** And starting is always tiny.
---
So here's what I want to offer:
You don't have to stay. You can go. But before you do—
**Take 30 seconds and tell me ONE tiny step. Not to do right now. Just to NAME it.**
Then go. With that one thing as your only assignment. Not the whole cloud. Just that.
Can you give me 30 more seconds?"
Wow!
I just got called out in the best way 😁
And I named an action I can take, and you can bet your ass I'll do it 😄
