First day here
Hi everyone, my first day here. Found Andre through socials. I'm in my 40s now, and hope to take my kicks to new levels, literally. I have 10 year TKD background and was decent when I was younger, but have never been able to kick beyond my head height, have always wanted to kick split like Van Damme. I've tried many things over the years, PNFs, static and dynamic stretching, even bought stretch machines. But I've never been able to get past certain sticking points. I recently found some new exercises like kick-stand squats, and nerve flossing that immediately improved my kicking height, but hit a wall again. Also, these days I get pain in my hips when i try to throw a quick snapping round house kick (slow gradual decline due to lessening practice over the years). I am ok when I chamber the leg for a side kick though and can hold the kick pretty high now, but still feel a lot of tightness in my hamstrings that prevent me from kicking higher. Also, my dynamic kicks (especially when I have a bag to hig) are way higher than my static holds. Anyway, looking forward to learning and growing with you all!

Welcome @Hayden Lee you’re gonna love it and get your Van Damme splits.
🔴 How do you relax your nervous system?
I feel like my nervous system resists and is trying to “keep me safe” when I am trying to get into deeper ranges of motion: what do you guys do to facilitate your nervous system into saying it’s OK?

I drink Ice water. 😅 My therapist says put an ice pack over my chest when I’m having a panic attack to calm my parasympathetic nervous system. Any one of those two work. Give it a try and let me know.
RIP Chuck Norris 😭
We all have our icons and people that affected our childhoods along with our earliest perspectives. When I saw that Chuck Norris passed away today, I grabbed my chest. It felt like I lost someone dear to me that I actually knew. I sort of did. When I was six , he was one of the first martial arts movie stars that ever influenced me, from a movie called Good Guys Where Black. If that sounds familiar, it’s because GGBB - Good Guys Build Backs, is named after that 1978 gem. It was his second martial arts film, and the first one where he was the main character. His first appearance was the ending fight scene in the Bruce Lee film Way Of The Dragon, which is where our WOH - Way Of The Hurdler classroom series got its name. Bruce Lee, and Chuck Norris are both indirectly responsible for my love of martial arts as well as me seeking the opportunity to train in it. Fast forward many years of work, struggle, and opportunity, and here we are. FLE❌THEORY exists because of the dramatic influences both of these men had on a wide eyed child. I never got to meet either of them. Bruce Lee died when I was an infant Chuck Norris persisted and became his own category of icon. I will always be grateful to how he influenced me without ever knowing. Rest easy. 🙏🏽
RIP Chuck Norris 😭

Strong body, strong brain
I want to acknowledge the nervous system regulation that FlexTheory exercises offer. @Andre Victorian, your humor, positivity, and professionalism are a gift that teach us self-care as we navigate the stresses of life. I just want to take a moment to acknowledge all the self starters out there who run their own business, or run their own game plan while searching for their next career stop. I admire the bravery of small business owners and independent contractors. I may take the leap from 10 years of being a 9 to 5 software engineer for government contracts to being an independent attachment theory coach. As large as my IT company is, DOGE has hit it hard, and my project layoff date is end of this month. It’s not looking like my company has other projects that match my skill set and experience level. My career manager left the government space last week, and the career accelerator team has failed to reply to me, except for one woman who sent me five people‘s resumes mistakenly thinking I’m a hiring manager. This is uncharacteristic. The ship is sinking. So, there is a decision to make at this fork in the road, and it’s best to act from a place of love and peace rather than from a place of fear and anxiety. FlexTheory exercises ground me and get me in touch with my intuition and my inner strength. They prepare my body and mind for stress. They get blood flowing to my brain so I’m equipped to make the best decision at this juncture. Thank you for your physical guidance and inspiration.🙏

I definitely understand that crossroad you're at. I, too, had my contract ended last year in tech. It's not easy, out here in the search, and I'm sure it was frustrating to receive 5 resumes and waiting to hear back from the career team. Flex theory really was a great idea that you executed by creating this program and bringing us all together, @Andre Victorian. Also, I'm glad you enjoy added benefit of the parasympathetic nervous system being calmed as a bonus. Wishing you future success wherever you land Lindsay.

@Lindsay Brown you put the exact sentiment into words. I’m telling you as a kid I didn’t dream this would be our future, not even the slightest.
Wednesday Wonders
Happy Wednesday! As I plan, write, record, and release new training, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for the feedback that so many have given these last few weeks. I appreciate and thrive from both the encouragement and the opportunity to solve problems. This community provides additional purpose to who I am and what I already had to offer. Outcomes matter. Pathways matter for sure, but we still seek outcomes that provide measurable changes and overproduce along the way. One of my personal outcomes from leading this community over the last few months is - I realize that I know more than I knew, that I knew. That isn’t intended to be a tongue twister, nor is it to brag. It is a realization of the necessity to teach this unique training and evangelize it to make it a standard rather than a lesser known outlier. I feel the weight of that responsibility, and use all of my strengths to let it grow my body and mind stronger with the intention to serve the needs of others. therefore I must, Flex Hard. Now back to the feedback and planning. Which of the following most excited you? Think of 2) as 15-30 minutes of more targeted Full Body Hybrid training and 3) as 15-30 minute FlexTheory for Fighters, but superior. 1) is glutes for strength, athleticism, and good old appearance. ALL of these are happening.

I want to try all of them but I currently happen to be focusing on my glutes as one part of my regiment, so any extra help in that area is right on time.
