SOTD - YSL Kouros
Yes Ladies and gentlemen, the moment of truth has finally come for me, I'm finally reviewing and wearing a fragrance I've been waiting for so long to review, the most controversial and polarizing fragrance in existence; Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent. (DISCLAIMER: This review is written upon my experience with the current "softer, cleaner" formulation of Kouros, not the old strong animalic many have known, hated and loved.) Now what exactly does it smell like? Some say piss, some say sweat, some say soap,the question is who's right? Well for short, the answer is all of them! But allow me to elaborate, the opening of Kouros (and that in my experience gets to live quite long on tester strips) is the part that smells animalic as HELL, it literally does smell like a stinky sweaty guy, no kidding, but past the opening into the drydown (1 to 3 minutes after spraying) it becomes incredibly clean; now I'm not talking nowadays clean, it smells like soap, yes but not like modern soap but like 70s soap. On my skin Kouros smells almost exactly like Palmolive Classic Green soap or Palmolive brillantine just much more refined; a very mature old scent for some but for me it's just beautiful! Finally as for the infamous piss note, it comes in the very very drydown past the 7 hour mark and even though it is indeed pretty "pissy" it's still accompanied by a very good dose of florals, so even then I wouldn't say it's something you should be sacred of. On my skin and as for my bottle (Batch 38WD1M9) it's basically an old school floral soap like fragrance, great for different occasions and all year round wear unless you want something refreshing during the warmer days. Performance? 6 to 8 hours so far, I've heard it used to last weeks but at least mine is 97% gone for the morning after. Good sillage and projection but once again, not a "room filler" anymore. Ah by the way if you've never tried Kouros you don't even really have to blind buy a bottle, find a tester or get a decant, just find a place where they have it for sale and squeeze the box a little, some of its scent comes out even with the plastic wrap on.
SOTD - Wanted by Azzaro (EDT)
Today, as it was a rather warm day, I decided to go with one of my top Spring-Fall fragrances, Wanted EDT by Azzaro. Wanted EDT is a rather sweet, floral woodsy fragrance, with warm ginger, lavender and a hint of sweet lemon during the opening, cardamom, geranium and apple for the heart note and a warm woodsy accord on the bottom, composed by the mixture of tonka bean, amberwood and a slight touch of vetiver. The performance is pretty good as well, with about 6 solid hours of longevity (only on my skin, I didn't spray on clothes today but it passed into my shirt anyways and lasted past the 12 hour mark) and quite a good dose of projection during the first two to 3 hours. Overall a great fragrance, super easy to dressing up or dressing down, and a solid all year round choice, but just a step into the sweeter side of things. DISCLAIMER: Times May vary since my bottle is from 2019 and it's been sitting without use for extended periods, therefore it may have gotten "macerated" (oxidized) resulting on a heavier composition and therefore a better performance.

@Dovi Rubelow Got it as a gift back in the day and I absolutely loved it too
SOTD - King by Arabela
Today as it was a rather nostalgic week, I decided to set aside for a bit my classic 80s fragrances that are now part of my signature and dust off a fragrance I used to love back in Highschool, King by Arabela. I honestly have no clue whether or not Arabela Mexico created this fragrance or it's a clone/inspiration, but I absolutely love it! It's a very fresh fragrance with bergamot, pineapple, a slight touch of honey and some woods (probably cedar) so far and with my now wider fragrance perspective, I perceive it as a mixture between a way less mature Creed Aventus, and a citrus freshie like Polo Sport or Animale for Men with a slight hint of bee honey during the drydown. Its performance is rather poor, with 4 to 6 hours longevity when oversprayed and moderate projection. Overall a nice masculine, youthful summer fragrance, that for it's price (4 USD for 50 ml) it's well worth the try.

SOTD - Givenchy π
Today, as me and my significant other were running into some trouble, I decided to pick up our personal "Safe fragrance" Pi by Givenchy. It is the very first fragrance we looked after while being together and one that has been scenting several significant gifts. The scent profile is very simple despite all the notes listed, during the first hour Almond and resins are very strong, giving it a clean, soapy, even ethereal scent. After that and more towards the hour and a half mark, a hint of warm, rich vanilla comes in, and the soapiness decreases just to the point where the fragrance is not exactly vanilla, or almond itself but a little "something" of its very own. Performance for my batch (4L02) is 7+ hour longevity on skin and even weeks when applied on clothes, moderate projection and sillage throughout most of its longevity. A fragrance I'm glad I own, and, to me, a little piece of heaven, not only for what it represents to me, but also for it's ethereal scent.

@Robert Meyers hahah, maybe give it a shot some day, to me it doesn't quite smell like gourmand almond, but definitely test before buying, also newer batches are way lighter on the almond note and heavier on the resins.

@Robert Meyers Ohh I see
Polo green... Leather?
Good day everyone! I recently aquired my first Ralph Lauren "Green" Polo 125 ml bottle, and it turned out to smell very, VERY odd, instead of being green, dry and earthy is now sweet, kind of fruity and even funky smelling. I have tried testers out there (literally weeks ago) that still smell just like it should, but many others smell just like a bottle of Carlo Corinto Classic that has gone bad. I know there's been reformulations and it changed its composition, but my question is, do any of you know about a modern batch that still smells like the great old money fougere it was? I've been literally smelling it for years, and two or three months ago, the great scent was still around, so maybe the previous formula is still being sold somewhere in here.

@Robert Meyers I'm not completely sure, but that's what I've heard and picked up, batches differ tho, mine is uglier than others by the testers I've tried

@Stephen Johnson That sounds better than what I've got at home hahah, I'll try to decant some into an open container, see if oxidation helps at all
