SOTD - Club de Nuit Sillage
Salutations Brotherhood of Scent! After taking a not-so-short break I'm finally back with another review, this time, of one of my latest acquisitions, Club de Nuit - Sillage by Armaf. Sillage is a fresh citrusy expensive smelling unisex fragrance. While based off of Creed's 1995 release, Silver Mountain Water (which I haven't tried yet) I'd differ from the idea of it being a 1:1 clone based off of the note breakdown of each and because of one key ingredient; iris (which at least on my bottle, batch 440592, is pretty noticeable throughout the life cycle of the fragrance). My nose tells me the breakdown as the following: Bergamot, Lime and Ginger for the top notes; Iris and Rose in the middle; and a dose of clean Musk, Cedar, Sandalwood and a hint of Ambroxan for the base notes. Even though I'm not the hugest fan of modern fragrances, I definitely knew I had to give sillage a shot as soon as I found out it was based off of a 90s fragrance, and man oh man was I surprised, and not only by its scent; for it being a fresh citrusy fragrance, the performance is amazing, 6 to 8 hour skin longevity with good projection and sillage during the first hour, overall one of the entries of the house of Armaf I could definitely recommend trying... Blind buy worth it? Maybe! But keep in mind it may come with some iris on it's composition (although maybe not as strong as in my bottle)

@Jeff Beason It's not bad at all then! I heard it was a 2 to 4 hour fragrance and that's why people didn't like it much hahah

@Jeff Beason Absolutely!
SOTD - Club de Nuit Intense Man (UAE Day)
Hello people! Today I decided to reach out for one of my absolute favorite fragrances from the house of Armaf, and by what I've heard the best entry of the whole Club de Nuit Intense Man lineup, Armaf's CdN IM UAE Day Special Edition. This fragrance is amazing, the rough lemon note everyone dislikes about the original CdNIM is pretty toned down, and the overall composition of the fragrance is much more refined and way better rounded than the OG. The performance is great! It comes on an EDT concentration which provides an amazing projection and sillage as well as the longevity of an EDP (10+ hours easy) The note breakdown, as you'd expect of an Aventus dupe; A fresh citrusy opening with Bergamot, Lemon and a touch of pepper, a Smoky pineapple from the middle to dry down and a heavy cedarwood note during the drydown. Although there's no sandalwood listed on either Aventus or Club de Nuit Intense Man, I find it to be a pretty creamy fragrance, specially during the drydown, which is what made me absolutely love this very fragrance. My recommendation would be the same as many other reviewers, If you already have the original CdNIM EDT, maybe try this version out, if you've got the Parfum version, that's pretty much as good, and if you don't have any Club de Nuit Intense Man, and you're interested on getting a bottle, look after this version first. Ah and the price is right in the middle of the original EDT price and the Parfum while having the best of both worlds.

@Jonathan Ventura My very first encounter was Mont Blanc Explorer, but I like Club de Nuit Intense Man better, even the original EDT past the rough lemon opening

@Kevin Garland Unfortunately no, I've just tried the original EDT, Urban Elixir and this one, I've heard even the new EDTs have fixed a bit of the strong citrus opening, on mine the citruses are there for sure, but they're accompanied by a woodsy note
SOTD - Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud
Salutations everyone! Today is a very special day for I have finally got to wear one of my first self acquired bottles and In my own opinion, the most "interesting" one I own, Ameer Al Oudh Intense. This fragrance is one of my all time cold weather favorites! It's oud based, yes, but not around regular Oud like most fragrances, this one is based around something called "White Oud" , which is basically Oud with some creamy Vanilla, sugary notes and smokiness. Making it an overall sweet and warm fragrance. The opening is very heavy on regular leathery oud, followed in both the middle and late drydown by a good dose of Vanilla, Sugar and soft sandalwood, which make it smell smokey sweet and also slightly incensey. after a while (a good 12+ hour after it's application) a nice dry cedarwood note is revealed, with most of the vanilla and oud as a very subtle background. I call this my most interesting fragrance for how it behaves, at first slightly animalic with strong Oud, then sweet and rich with a lot of Vanilla and finally dry with that cedarwood and slignt sandalwood during what I call "afterlife". The longevity on this thing is insane, 12 hours minimum on skin and up to 3 days (vanilla+sugar) on clothes, but here's where it gets interesting, as days go by, the sugar and vanilla notes become a lot more subdued, but for an extra 2 to 3 days (this is what I call afterlife) you'll get a clean woodsy note, like a cedarwood plank on Home Depot Haha! Isn't that cool? Overall a great GREAT performing fragrance, great for those who love oriental fragrances with a nice sweet twist to it.

@Jonathan Ventura Absolutely! I haven't tried Replica's "By the fireplace" but something tells me I'd still pick Ameer Al Oudh

I'm not against niche fragrances at all, but I'm not really interested either, it may be because of the toxic fanbase surrounding niche houses in my context, for example, here wearing anything from Creed, Amouage or Le Labo equals somehow to being "better" than anyone who's not wearing it. That certainly made me lose some interest in some fragrances I should actually be quite interested in, i.e. Bois du Portugal, Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water etcetera.
Least Favorite Fragrance in your collection
Just curious, I know none of us want to think we made a bad purchase…..What are some of your LEAST favorite scent in your collections? It could be something bought as a blind buy or something you liked in the store but disliked once you got it home and now just takes a spot never to be worn again or maybe your tastes have changed? I have 3 in my collection all blind buys cheapies Lattafa Brioche Vanille Raghba Wood Intense Maison Alhambra lovely Cherie

I have two entries for this one hah #1 - Añeja Lavanda (Eau de Cologne): This bottle was given to me as a gift a long time ago but my Grandpa used to wear all the time, so I instantly relate it to older people. Same used to happen to me with Brut Classic (which he gifted me himself) but I've been starting to like it more and more as time has gone by. #2 - Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Beene: This fragrance I bought myself because I used to love it when I was in elementary school, yes! Elementary! I used to get a few sprays from my dad's bottle from time to time. Nowadays I don't dislike it at all, but I definitely find myself reaching out more for 80s heavy fougeres instead of herbals like Grey Flannel.
