With my large family I get requests from some with pictures of projects asking if I can make it. The easiest way I found is to make a copy of the project on 8-2/2” 1/4” graph paper, then transfer the drawing to a pattern on 1/4” underlayment, which most brands have 1” squares. You can use the 1/4” as a guide to figure out how big you want your project ( 1/4=1”) for example. To begin with you need a way to make the original drawing,I accomplished this by building a simple light box. See attached photo,4 sides, piece of plexiglass, led strip light , 1/4” bottom. One end removable for serviceing. Total cost about $20.00

New woodworker sets up small workshop
Just setting up my small workshop area and looking for any suggestions. The area is in my basement which also houses a gas water heater and HVAC unit. Due to safely concerns related to the gas heater I have installed 6mil plastic to separate that area, which also houses the HVAC, from the wood working area. I have also installed the WREN 3410 air filtration system. Check out the photos and please don't hesitate to share your thoughts!

Being in the HVAC business for most of my life, the plastic is a good idea, but if you’re water heater and furnace are not sealed combustion you may find dust migrating into the burners even with the plastic and causing poor combustion leading to carbon monoxide.be sure to check your furnace filter often and make sure you don’t seal them off so that they aren’t able to get combustion air. Basement shops work out fine as long as you take precautions and are aware of what to look for

@Stuart Patterson I would rather add one in the mechanical room where the source of the problem would be
Challenge #1: What’s on Your Workbench?
Our first bi-weekly challenge is super simple: 📸 Take a photo (or a selfie) of whatever’s on your workbench right now. A project in progress, a pile of clamps, or even just your morning coffee — we want to see it. How to join: Just post your photo by Sunday night (July 6). We’ll randomly select one winner to receive a $100 Sawinery gift card to use in our shop. Let’s see those workbenches— clean or messy, we’re all friends here! 😊

End table
My wife had Surgery on her right shoulder, for any of you who have had sholder surgery, you know it's hard to sleep flat on a bed. I bought her a recliner to sleep in. Well I realized that she needed a end table. Yay me, I get to build something! Nothing fancy, but she loves it and it's a big help to her. Happy wife, happy husband. Also on a happy note: I'm a Grandpaw. His nane is Oliver. Happy Father's day everyone.

Nice little table and grand kids are great, I have 27 plus 45 great grandchildren, hard to remember names but love them all and they seem to love spending time with us
Practice!
I've been sidelined by some eye issues, but I have managed to get addicted to wood turning in the meantime. I'm still practicing, but I'm getting there!
