A Story From My Past
In junior and senior highschool I was creative, rebellious and adventurous. I made money by betting on My abilities, not someone else's. In the mid to late 1960s we didn't have 7-11s or any of the chain or franchise enterprises we have today. We had " News Stores" that were basically a modern day 7-11 and a CVS combined but without the pharmacy. And they carried every newspaper and magazine printed. I would bet my buddies that I could go into Nestor's, our newsstore, and steal anything. The guys would bet a quarter or up to a dollar ( good money back then) that I couldn't steal a particular item. I would accept the bets and go into the store. 15 minutes to half an hour later I would emerge from the store and walk around to the side of the building. There I would produce the items. I collected my bets and to their collective dismay would return to the store where I would return what I had stolen. I never explained myself to my buddies. But this would occur at least once a week for five years. What I didn't explain is what my dad taught me: Once you steal You are a Thief. When people learn You are a Thief, you will Never be Trusted. Back then, I couldn't imagine living anywhere beyond ten miles away. I simply didn't want the reputation of a thief. I enjoyed the challenge, the rush, the danger but I didn't sacrifice my integrity in the process. The reason I share this is because an event in my current life reminded of it. At worst please consider it the rambling of an old man with many adventures and memories. Thank you for your time.

Valentine's Day - What a stupid holiday!!
Before I'm crucified for this, let me explain. If you have someone you love, why limit it to celebrating only one day. In my opinion, you should celebrate the one you love everyday and not just limit it to one day a year. Thoughts?

@Julian T Valentine's Day is a special day for me. I celebrate it with gusto and likely will forevermore. February 14th 2025 was the final nail in the coffin of a toxic relationship. I remember the day vividly, we were separated, and I had ended the relationship on June 24th 2025 however, my ex wanted us to lie to family and friends and tell them that we were living apart but still a couple. I should have known better to agree....in any case... I am all dressed on a cold but sunny February day to go for a walk and I get a call.... From my ex, raking me over the coals because she got a text from a neighbour wishing her happy valentines and I did not...my initial reaction was to apologize then I stopped in my tracks, reflected for a second and said... 1- We discussed this stupid holiday in the past and agreed not to observe it because it was nothing more than a money grab and 2- We're no longer a couple After a couple of days of theatrics, we drew up separations papers...

What Would You like To See In The Society
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, As we continue to strive for the betterment and improvement of this society, we want to encourage all of the members to be active and to help build this society. We understand that some came from the previous site and some were present when the Gentleman’s Lounge became The Society Of Ordinary Gentlemen, the purpose of the change was to help build and promote not just a community but a society and and a lifestyle of ladies and gentlemen. There is no set formula to achieve this but there are standards and values that have been present. But we also would like to hear from the members of what you would like to see and topics that you would like to explore and discuss. We would like hear good and positive feedback, we are not looking to hear finger pointing or blaming, or how things use to be. Yes things have changed for the better not to say that things were bad in the past but to better in the ways of improvement. One of the key points we are looking to is host more Society Lounges, and also when a board member is online to open up a live feed, where members can come into the lounge to visit, ask questions , offer suggestions, or just get to know members. So please take a few minutes and give us your thoughts, and what you would like to see. We cannot guarantee that all an ideas will be used, or placed into practice right away. But we will take all of them into consideration. Thank you im advance.

Are we efficient or deficient??
So my question to you all is are you efficient in what you do or are you not efficient in what you do? Say your at work and your in your A game and then the company asks you to work with someone on let’s say their c or d game . Will this get to you and under your skin or will you find a way through the situation to stay efficient? When you go about your daily routines to get ready for the day, are your going at it with 100% time and energy ? Do you go through your entire day doing everything the right way the fist time and being efficient as possible so your happy with the outcome?

I prefer being deficient, less expectation and more connection... Several years ago I had a small cleaning business and had a contract to clean a grocery store. I had developed the most efficient system where I could do the entire store including buffing the waxed floors in 2 hrs where it typically would take an entire night. One night as I was getting out of the car to go in to work...locked the door as I saw the keys in the car...suffice to say that it was the 1st time I was late; the stock guys who would let me in were really nice to me from that point... I learned that being human was better that being efficient....
Blast from the Past
Back in the 90s I went to see a movie in a theater. As usual, ten minutes into the movie I walked out. Another lousy flick. Went to a library, bookstore or home. Ten years ago and, I saw the last five minutes of the same movie. Convinced I was right to walk out of the movie years ago. Last night on UTube I watched the entire movie. With delight. I strongly recommend anyone over 40 will appreciate the portentous plot and dialogue. Maybe the older you are the more you will enjoy it. Even younger people may relate. The movie is Demolition Man with Sylvester Stallone and a hilarious Sandra Bullock. I admit to enjoying the film, and it holding my interest perhaps partially due to the medical marijuana.
