EDC
Good morning gentlemen. I was wondering what everyone’s must haves are for every day carry. I am trying to add a lighter to my EDC but honestly it bouncing around my pocket is really annoying. I’m also not used to my pocket knife. Any suggestions?

@Jon Johnson I do love my front door lock. Key in a combo and I’m good. One less key on me.

Made it to level 5 while I was asleep. I’d say that’s a win!
Straight Razors
Gentlemen, I’ve been using a safety razor for years however, for a time there mine broke and I found my first straight razor at The Art of Shaving on sale for a price my wife did not let me pass on. I absolutely love the timeless look and the ritual that shaving became. Funny enough I would even play 40s music in the background as I took my time to shave and didn’t feel rushed to just get the job done. First off have any of you had a good bit of experience with a straight razor? Would love to see pictures of the one you own. Secondly, do you have any tips or videos that I could watch to keep learning and perfecting the use of mine? I do have a short beard so I basically just use the SR on my neck and to line up my cheeks.

@John C very well said. A towel warmer and a hot lather dispenser would be phenomenal to have.
Safety Razor Update and a Question
So as some of you know, I started using a safety razor about a week ago. I had read that the blades that come with it were crap and after using them three times, I can agree. I think they did an ok job but just ok. They were Apache brand and I didn't think they were that sharp. I was told that it's natural to nick yourself the first few times while getting used to the razor but I never did. I just bought and got in a bunch of Astra blades and shaved for the first time with those today I ended up with several nicks which I guess that means that they are much sharper. I guess my question is since I wasn't getting nicks with the first blade brand and now I am, is that a good thing? I mean, I would suppose that I wasn't learning correctly because the old blade was not that sharp. Am I thinking about this correctly?

I’ve been using a safety razor I bought from the art of shaving for years now. I hav enticed that when I use oil and then put my soap on it helps a ton. Not only that but I’ve had to learn over a long time not to press down so much. I also go with the grain and barely against it. Yup, I don’t get as close a shave as I want but it works and I barely get a nick anymore. Don’t think name brand oils are needed, just anything you can use that will help that blade glide.
