A Job Search Quest Success (And What You Can Learn From It!)
Hey guys! I had a great call today that I wanted to tell you about and give you some tips I used that really made it go better. Before I even met with this person, I spent time looking through her LinkedIn profile to anticipate what might be holding her back which Kev recommended. One villain stood out right away: ⚔️ The Bio Section Bully – Her About section was polished but generic. It listed her background and achievements, but nothing that really told her story or made her stand out from thousands of other professionals in her field. Going in with this in mind meant I could: - Ask questions that confirmed my suspicions (like: Did she have a pitch? Had she written a pain letter before?) - Show her exactly what these villains were in her job search - Give her clarity on what aspects of her job search were being overlooked During our session, we also identified: ⚔️ Mission Statement Fog – She realized she didn’t have a clear, one-sentence pitch that tied her skills and experience directly to an employer’s needs. This was especially tricky because she was trying to appeal to both the gaming industry and other sectors at the same time. By the end, I had explained out how fixing these would give her a stronger, more confident message across her About section, cover letters, interviews, and networking. And this is a person with 16 years of experience in gaming that I helped today! Wow! That I could help someone with so much more experience is insane. She’s planning on reviewing my services/pricing to determine if she wants to move forward. But even if she doesn’t, I learned more about what I’m capable of today. And that is a big win!
@Jade Arthur congratulations!
Parkinson‘s Blocks
I finished 2 more posts for next week. Third is almost done to not worry about it. I hit my comments on relevant posts. Tomorrow I will add 20 connections for ICP Regarding my pink space. Yesterday on my way to the gym I had a pink sky for sun rise and in general I go 2-3 times a week for 60 minute walks with my daughter in the stroller I get so many good ideas while doing it regularly. also my 3 gym sessions have proven to clear my mind and I create great ideas by not thinking about work but focus on movement and breathing.
This morning gym was closed, seems we have holiday 😅, made my exercise in the outdoor gym
@Kevin Dowling since we do baby lead weaning we reduce salt a lot
Friday Reminder: Your 2 Blocks
Hey guys, First of all, it was brilliant running the 'One-Thing Rule' and doing the sprint in yesterday's workshop. Well done again on everything you got done. If you missed the session, you can catch-up here or else check out the Recap Doc / Presentation. I'd recommend you do this too (40 mins is all it takes!) Remember that we committed to 2 more blocks by Friday. You can see I'm kicking mine off now for finishing my One-Hour Books lead list. Then on Friday, I have my Pink Space (creative block) for some downtime and 'guilt-free' fun. I'll probably grab a coffee and enjoy some of this rare Irish sun ☀️ If you get yours done, I'd love for you to make a post here in 'IMPACT ⚡️" sharing: - what you got done this week - how you felt in the Pink Space block - where you'll build on this for next week Do it by Friday! You'll be glad ya did. ~Kev

Help for positioning
Hi all! I created the FREEDOM method as my tool and my I help statement: I help small business owners transform in 90 days from busy managers to Life-First CEOs — with a profitable business and more time to be present for the moments that matter. Do you think the desire is clear or should it be dofferent like more family time. I struggle a bit with deciding on my target group. I would love to attract soon to be dads, freshly dads or men who want to start a family but are trapped in their business. Linkedin does not help me with that. Shall I narrow it down to men and small businesses / solopreneurs?
From 4 -> 2 (and a Lesson Learned)
Well, this wasn't as call-filled a week as I'd hoped. 🙁 2 people canceled and have yet to reschedule (no surprise.) As far as the two calls that did occur, 1 went very well, the other, not so great. Sill hasn't led to conversions, but the difficulty led me to realize that I need to make a clearer path for my clients. He felt like a lot of information from other sources was pulling him in different directions. As he said, "I don't feel like I'm making any forward progress, and I just need a direction to go in, even if it's not, like, the perfect direction, right? Like, just having one direction to go in instead of all these different ones." So I asked him, "Has what I said felt like a path moving forward, or does it feel like another one?" His response: "I could see a path there. I'm not 100% sure it's the path I need right now, but I'd have to think on it more to really digest it all." I got intimidated here because this was a person who's been in gaming for a while and wanted to transition to a different area in gaming. I should have probably said, "What would make this path what you need right now?" or "Why isn't this what you need right now?", but I just didn't think of it. Hopefully, if I come across that kind of situation again, I'll be able to utilize those lines of questioning to get at a deeper answer. Alanis, take it away!
@Jade Arthur you improve by learning. Next time you are prepared and find the right words
