Hey guys, Joe A. here with another one for ya’! Lemme ask y’all something… is “FragTalk” helping the hobby, or is it slowly turning the whole thing into a loud, overhyped circus where everybody’s chasing the same five buzzwords? Beast mode. Compliment puller. Nuclear. Panty dropper. Blind buy worthy. Somewhere along the way, parts of this hobby started feeling less like appreciation and more like a fantasy football draft for fragrance addicts. So today, I’m throwin’ out a few hard truths that might ruffle a few atomizers! First up, the beast mode obsession is absolutely costing people money. Brands know good and well that if they slap “Extrait” or “Elixir” on a bottle, crank up the loud woods, musks and ambroxan, folks will line up like it’s the second coming of scent. And sure, performance matters… but since when did subtlety become a crime? Not every fragrance needs to last 19 hours, kick down the door and announce itself like a pro wrestler entering WrestleMania. Sometimes the beauty is in the nuance, not in choking out your coworkers by lunch! Then there’s the paper strip nonsense. Some folks smell the opening for thirty seconds at the mall and walk out with a full bottle like they just found their signature scent. Nah, brother, that’s not the fragrance, that’s the handshake. The drydown is the real conversation. If it hasn’t sat on your skin for a few hours, gone through the heat, settled into the base and shown you what it’s really about, then all you bought was the best behavior version of that scent. That’s fragrance speed dating, not a relationship!! And while we’re here, let’s be honest about something else: buying is not the hobby. Learning, smelling, comparing, wearing, experiencing and understanding fragrance… that’s the hobby. Constantly hitting “add to cart” every time TikTok starts foaming at the mouth over a new release? That’s just shopping with a fancy excuse. If you’ve got enough juice on your shelf to outlive your mortgage (guilty!!), it might be time to ask whether you love fragrance… or just love the rush of the next package hitting the porch!

So today is 4/20 - an unofficial holiday celebrating all things mari-ju-ana related (wink wink), and I had a special gummie and kind of forgot and got caught up watching One Piece. Then I remembered and was like... oh yeah, I need to write that review for 4/20 Okay, so here's the thing. here's the thing. I put this on like forty minutes ago, and I forgot what I was doing. I got wrapped up in the next episode of One Piece, and I keep forgetting what I'm doing. Anyway. Music Festival. Is that what we were talking about? Oh, yeah, Coachella. That thing looks like a hoot. There's a couple of girls there that I photographed in their outfits before the festival, and they're posting their pics on IG now. Wait. Music Festival, lol. lol. lol. why do we say it like that? My Mexican friends say jajajajajajaja and it cracks me up. I had an ex who would say it like "jaw--jaw--jaw" and I had to tell her its "hahahahaha". LOL Music Festival. Top notes: Neroli and aldehydes (does anyone know what those are? I thought they were fat molecules, but that's not right) Middle: Hedione (lol, head....), and white musk Base: Cashmeran (its so soft), and Ambroxide (i dated an amber oxide once. goth girl. I miss her) Okay so. What does it smell like - you know that moment. It's golden hour at the festival, and the sun is doing that thing where it's not quite setting, but it's getting lower, and everything looks a bit warmer and softer, and there's somone standing near you and they smell incredible and you can't figure out who ti is because there's people everywhere and the air has that warm skin smell, but like the GOOD version of that the version where everyone is happy and the music is vibing and the light show is going off and the music is good and nobody is stressed and the music is so good and you feel like you are exactly where you are supposed to be on this earth at this specific moment in time? That's the whole fragrance. they just. bottled that moment. they looked at the moment and they said yeah, we're going to put that in a bottle and then they DID it and I don't know how and I've been sitting here for forty minutes thinking about it.

On the road this week and going into a board meeting and I wanted something that is an easy wear. Nothing overly strong and interesting as this isn’t the time. This is in my travel samples as believe it or not I’ve not converted this yet. But it may just make it on the list. The few times I’ve worn this it has been a nice experience. I can see why it’s a signature scent for so many people. It’s a fresh citrusy scent that drys down into a sweet powder. This one puts me in the right frame of mind for the busy day ahead locked in a room for meetings. This one will catch my nose without offending others with the small scent bubble around me. Doctor’s orders a two week ban on all things fragrance as I’ve broken out with a severe rash on my arms and legs. They did a biopsy as they couldn’t figure out what it is. I doubt it’s fragrance related as my spray points aren’t impacted. See y’all in a bit.
