Today is Cat's birthday, and I want to take a moment to acknowledge this incredible woman. I truly would not be here without her. She is a soul mate in the truest sense. Before we met, we lived like ships in the night. Her name floating through circles of aviation and hospitality, but when she landed in my life… there was no turning back. Some of you may already know this story… but Cat and I officially became friends when I was diagnosed with cancer. She brought food to the hospital and my house. She started a meal train and messaged me every day while I was in treatment. In the middle of a health crisis, I didn’t imagine I’d be making new friends, but this acquaintance became my lifeline. Cat is nurturing. Endlessly loving. A natural at creating community and connection. I love her ability to whip up anything in the kitchen, and to this day, she still cooks for me... no matter where we are in life or in the world. In Yoga Nidra, Annamaya Kosha translates as the food body (the physical body), the part of us that needs nourishment and care. And that’s what Cat offers in every moment: Nourishment. Today is a day marked by a special planetary alignment AND it's also a milestone in my life—cheers to years young! On this day, I celebrate the 7th anniversary of my life-changing stem cell transplant, graciously given by an anonymous donor. My doctors called this my rebirth, as every cell in my body was regenerated from that point forward. I often joke that I am a 'community project.' I was saved by the generosity of strangers who donated blood, plasma, stem cells, prepared meals, and offered life itself, along with comedy, smiles, long hugs, and so much more—sustaining me through my most challenging times.
