I see value in everyone of these. Having said that being able to off balance your opponent is such an important skill and seems to be more focused in Judo typically overall.
Hardest lesson🧐
What’s the hardest thing to teach in BJJ? Timing? Pressure? Grip fighting? Guard passing? Etc. As an instructor, I find teaching students how to relax and be calm is most challenging. For a few classes they’re doing great, but eventually go back to being tense. I don’t know if it’s something that can be taught, or if it’s a phase that they have to get through like we all did at one point. Curious to hear your thoughts 👊🏻

I have found that teaching Men how to relax in general can be the most difficult, However once you introduce concepts that require relaxation they begin to catch on.
Details on the armbar from the guard
During Q&A Professor James showed details on an armbar that @Jason Bodi had posted for the group.

Those were some great additional details that we'll be taking to the lab. Like I said I was a Purple Belt before I had ever experienced that method and none of the usual indicators were there. The experience that I had at that Pedro Sauer Academy started me on the path to wanting to learn more from this lineage.
Just finished the back log of Q and A's
There is absolute Gold in there and I look forward to attending my first one tomorrow evening. My subject if picked would be Jame's take on the Rickson Armbar or what I refer to as the Shotgun Armbar as there is very little telegraphing involved when compared to other methods.

For context
Awkwardness
Tell us about a time you felt awkward on your martial arts journey. For me it was when women suddenly started training at Rickson’s academy after years of men only.

I took an 8 year hiatus from Jiu Jitsu when I was a 4 Stripe Blue Belt and when I returned to training I was getting wrecked by just about everyone on the Mat. My timing was off, I was over doing everything and I guess awkward would be a good fit.

@James Driskill It was not easy. I was in a very Competition focused Academy at the time and they were all preparing for the upcoming Pans lol
