Happy New Year 🎆 (part 1)
Hey everyone, Thank you so much for being a part of this community. I am honored by your engagement and support. I started this group so that I could share what I’ve learned with people who don't have the proximity to the source that I’ve been so fortunate to have. I am truly blessed to be guided by Master Rickson on a daily basis. I trust that you have gotten something out of this trial period. I want everyone to have a place where they can feel supported by their peers and find the guidance they’re looking for. Many of you have asked for clear training paths, structure, and access to me so I am building it. More details to come.

Deep 💯 it’s easier to release slack than to gain it if needed under pressure.
Focus for the week (ramping)
This week when you catch someone in a submission, practice ramping. Ramping means to slowly increase the intensity of the squeeze. Count to 10 while you apply your submission. Increase your pressure by 5% on each count. This will give your partner time to try to mount an escape. This will also give you an opportunity to practice maintaining control instead of racing to finish before they slip away. When we ramp something like a choke, our partner feels like they cannot wait this out because it just gets worse over time. On top of that, we are far less likely to exhaust ourselves and burn out squeezing as hard as possible. When we make it a habit to work this way with our partners for the majority of rounds, everyone gets better.

Great way to take care of your training partners. Sometimes I’ll do a “catch n release” type of roll to keep things going. This helps your partner work their escapes but also allows you to understand their escape route, essentially polishing up your ability to finish.

@Jason Reno That’s awesome! Yes it definitely helps with understanding common reactions thus giving you the ability to anticipate their reaction and address it early, if needed👍🏻

@Andrew Novak you’re the man! Thanks for posting the recordings so quickly.
Focus for the week (Nutrition)
Eat healthy this week. If you already eat healthy then try fasting. If eating healthy is difficult then try one meal a day as a healthy meal. If that is too hard then try every other day one healthy meal. Just like jiujitsu, we can vary the resistance and stress of a task. Consistency beats intensity.

💯reducing refined sugar does wonders! fasting, especially, if you can get into the phase of autophagy (I think around the 15+hr mark) has so much science behind it!!

@C L I agree. Creatine is one of the most studied supplements ever. Aside from the benefits towards muscular strength, studies have show it’s beneficial for brain health and supports healthy DNA. 👍🏻
