Half Marathon PR by 11 minutes
I started working with Lance about a year ago. I always enjoyed running but never focused on nutrition or other forms of exercise. As I implemented GPS and reduced my carb intake I lost 60 lbs over the past year. As a side effect, I noticed that focusing on my nutrition helped my cardio health significantly - my resting heart rate dropped and my VO2 max jumped. As I reintroduced more cardio I was running faster than ever before.
Last weekend I signed up for a small half marathon race as part of my Spartan Beast prep and ended up crushing my PR by over 11 minutes. 1:36:10 (7:20 pace). I kept that pace the entire race and when it came time to drop the hammer I had fuel in the tank!!
Placed 1st in my age group and 4th overall. Never thought that would be possible at this age.
Spartan beast in 1 week!
