Thursday- Skills Thread
For today’s theme “skills” I wanted to share a skill thats helped me a lot lately as a founder:
learning to say “not now.”
Not “no.”
Not “never.”
Just… not now.
As founders, especially those of us ADHD’ers, we’re wired to move fast and solve problems, everything feels urgent. A new idea, client message or request from the team and before we know it, we’ve abandoned the thing we intentionally sat down to work on.
Saying “not now” has become a boundary I set with myself.
It sounds simple, but it’s powerful:
-Not now to reacting to emails in middle of deep work time
-Not now to chasing a new idea before finishing the current one
-Not now to saying yes just because I can
What this has done is protect my focus, my energy, and my ability follow through. It’s helped me finish things instead of constantly switching lanes and feeling behind.
I’ve learned that urgency is often emotional, not real. Saying “not now” gives me the space to respond intentionally instead of reacting automatically.
