A simple breathing tool that I use every day and talk about a lot...
I finally found a video that shows box breathing with hands on the ribs, exactly how I teach it. If you’re a chest breather (I was too), this might feel awkward at first, but it’s one of the most effective tools you can use in midlife.
I use this when I feel anxious, before stressful events (like public speaking), before eating out (great for digestion and slowing down eating), and even in the middle of the night if I wake up.
It helps switch the body into the parasympathetic “rest and digest” state, calming the heart rate and slowing everything down.
Watch the video, practise in front of a mirror, and give yourself time to get the hang of it. It’s worth it.
I’ll add this to the Classroom section as a resource too.
