Edgar Allan Poe
I study the works of Edgar Allan Poe and I have visited his home in Baltimore, MD. My favorite poem that he penned in 1845 was "The Raven." The first stanza: Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door - "Tis some visitor," I muttered, "Tapping at my chamber door - Only this, and nothing more." Poe was only 40 years old when he died in Baltimore. His home is surrounded by a rod iron fence with Ravens on it. Very cool and haunting. Stories that I really enjoy are The Black Cat and the Tell Tale Heart. All are classics and should be read in high school but the aren't because they upset the students. Let me know if anyone has read some of his works.

Urgent Dispatch: Absence of His Grace Amid Greenland Escalation
Gentlemen, Ladies It is with a mixture of regret, concern, and no small amount of disbelief that I must once again issue a formal communiqué regarding the prolonged absence of His Grace, Lord René — Gentleman-at-Liberty, Of Counsel, and, for reasons still under investigation, Honorary Cultural Attaché to the Danish Realm. As previously noted, His Grace had intended to return to active Society duties this week, including final sign-off on the Elements of a Gentleman curriculum. Unfortunately, that return has been indefinitely postponed, due to what is now being described — even by traditionally neutral Swiss newspapers — as an “escalating international incident.” You will, of course, be aware of the ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and Europe over Greenland. However, few are aware that the origins of the affair lie in a private liaison between His Grace and the Greenlandic Ambassador’s wife during last month’s Reykjavik Energy & Sovereignty Summit. While the exact nature of their interaction remains diplomatically ambiguous, it reportedly involved: - a miscommunicated sauna invitation, - a ceremonial sealskin robe, and - a regrettable misunderstanding regarding personal boundaries. President Trump, upon learning of the affair via unnamed sources (believed to be a disgruntled valet), has reignited his campaign to acquire Greenland, stating publicly that “if the Europeans can’t keep their nobility under control, we’ll buy the whole damn iceberg.” NATO, rather unusually understanding the seriousness of the threat, has mobilised a small joint task force. President Trump has since threatened retaliatory tariffs on European waistcoats and foie gras. His Grace, believed to be lying low in a remote fishing lodge under diplomatic hush, is said to be “reflecting on events,” with access to limited port and no external tailoring services. Until further notice — or until NATO stands down — His Grace will remain unable to fulfil his Society responsibilities. I have therefore been entrusted to continue issuing Sunday dispatches, safeguarding the archive, and keeping the younger members away from the brandy cabinet.
National Popcorn Day
I don't know if it was yesterday or today but Cinemark is having a special that if you bring in any bucket (even a 5 gallon one) you can get it filed with popcorn for $5. It never says anything about having to go see a movie so my wife and I are going up to Cinemark just to get our bucket filled with movie popcorn and then go back home and watch the Football National Championship. It's Indiana #1 vs Miami #10, it should be a good game. Miami was not even supposed to be in the payoffs but beat out Notre Dame at the last minute. Now they have been beating everyone.

📖Martin Luther King Jr. Day📖 A champion for justice, he led with unwavering determination, inspiring change and fostering unity, leaving an indelible mark on history. I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word. Martin Luther King Jr Everyone should have a hero! Someone to look up to or admire. Someone who is a great role model and who provides inspiration to individuals and the masses. For many people across all parts of the world, Martin Luther King Jr is just such a man. The way he walked on Washington, how he used words instead of fists to try to solve the problems of his day and age, and his tenacity to the very end all made him a person to be admired and followed, whether in his time or beyond. Some people have a tendency to compare what Martin Luther King Jr. did to the works of Gandhi. The similarities come in using the persistent yet peaceful rebellion against the oppression of a group of people. Martin Luther King Jr Day is the day to celebrate all that this fine man has done for the African American people in the United States as well as humans all around the world. 📖History of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day📚 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was created by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, at least that is when the day became official. King’s assassination had remained an important part of American culture in the 15 years since its occurrence in 1968, and Reagan finally felt compelled (after years of campaigning by activists) to make a federal holiday for the United States of America in his honor. This event takes place on the third Monday in January, close to—or sometimes on—the date of Dr. King’s birthday of January 15. Groups of people organized movements in the 1970s and 1980s were still in motion to elevate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to a federal holiday, which would mandate that government offices would close down in recognition of the lengths King went to and the life he gave to promote true equality and freedom.
