Building my Brand and Life
Hey everyone! 👋 I’m Arnold, originally from Singapore, and currently based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I've travelled to 22 countries in my life. I’m an entrepreneur and digital nomad, and I’m here because I’m really interested in connecting with other people who are building things, experimenting with different ways of working, and figuring out what kind of business and life they actually want. I’m currently working on my own business, SelfSync Studio, which is focused around intentional living, wellbeing, burnout, and the way we approach work. I’m also exploring freelance/VA-style business support and different ways of building income online. My background is actually in Industrial & Systems Engineering, so I’m quite interested in the intersection between business, systems, creativity, and people. I’m not exactly in a community building phase at the moment, I’m more interested in the broader entrepreneur journey: figuring things out, trying ideas, meeting interesting people, learning from other businesses, and sharing what I discover along the way. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here! What are you currently building or experimenting with?

COMMON GROUND 🎁
A mysterious package just showed up with your name on it. Inside is something you would absolutely LOVE to find. No rules. Something you lost. Something you’ve always wanted. Something that doesn’t even exist. 😂 What are you hoping is in the box? Mine would be my grandmother’s recipe book. The funny thing is, there never was one. She made everything from scratch and, as far as I know, never wrote any of it down. We have none of her delicious recipes. So somehow, my mystery box contains the recipe book I wish she had left us. ❤️ What would be in yours?

🎶 COMMON GROUND: You’re the DJ! 🎤
This one is partly @Oddysey Campbell Oddysey’s fault. 😂❤️ She got us talking about how she’s bringing more music into her community, and it sparked an idea... What if we built a Skoolology playlist together? 🐼 But we're making it a little more interesting. Today, YOU are the DJ. You get to play ONE song for all of us. 💃 Make us dance. 🎤 Make us sing. ❤️ Make us feel something. 🌎 Bring us something from your part of the world. 😂 Or make us seriously question your musical taste. Any decade. Any genre. Any language. BUT WAIT... Apparently Skoolology has also installed an imaginary online karaoke machine. 🎤😂 So here's the real question: What song are you adding to the Skoolology playlist...and would you actually sing it at Skoolology Karaoke? 😂 Choose your status: 🎤 HAND ME THE MIC — I'm singing it! 😬 ONLY WITH BACKUP SINGERS 😂 ABSOLUTELY NOT. I'm the DJ, remember? Drop your song + artist + karaoke status below. 👇 And yes...I said ONE song. Let's see how long that rule lasts. 😂

Sometimes building means slowing down.
Sometimes building means saying no. Even to things you’ve already said yes to. I learned that today. I’m four weeks into an eight-week Presenting & Positioning program, and honestly? It couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m working full-time. I’m building my business. I’m getting noticed locally. People are asking me to speak, have vendor tables, donate prizes, collaborate, show up at events… And because I’m me, I said YES. To way too much. Today, I cancelled four commitments. And you know what? I feel fantastic. Not guilty. Not embarrassed. Relieved. Because I’m finally realizing that saying no to something that drains my energy isn’t quitting. It’s making room for what actually matters. This course has also forced me to look at something I’ve been avoiding for a long time: My message. Who am I? What do I actually do? Who do I help? How do I help them? And what changes for them because of the work I do? I don’t have those answers nailed down yet. But I’m getting there. And I think I’ve finally found the diamond in the rough. So I’m letting go of a whole lot of noise and leaning into it. And that means slowing down. It means backing up. It means doing some things properly instead of desperately trying to get everything done in the next 30 days. And yes, that means admitting I may need more than one AI tool to help me figure this shit out. 😂 (Sybil, if you're reading this… you’re going to laugh. I finally admitted I need Claude.) But seriously… I’m learning that building a business isn’t about doing more. Sometimes it’s about doing less. Better. With intention. I turn 60 on September 25th. And despite being absolutely exhausted right now, I have never felt more certain that this is not it. Life is just beginning for me. I’m still figuring it out. I’m still questioning myself. I’m still changing direction. And I’m still learning. But I have my eye on the ball. So if you’re building something right now and wondering whether you’re doing it right…
