Community builders have access to more ideas, strategies, frameworks, and experience than ever. And honestly, a lot of it is really good. But two smart, experienced people can suggest very different approaches…and both can make sense. Different communities. Different people. Different goals. Different stages of the build. So I’ve been wondering... 👉 When you come across an idea or piece of advice that sounds good, how do you decide whether it makes sense to try in YOUR community? What moves you from “That’s a good idea.” to “That’s worth testing in my build.” Maybe it fits something you’re already noticing. Maybe you’ve seen it work somewhere similar. Maybe there’s evidence behind it. Maybe someone understands your particular situation. Or maybe you decide in a completely different way. 🔬 That’s what I’m curious about this week: How do we decide when good advice fits our particular build? I have some ideas about where this could take us, but I’m keeping those to myself for now. 😂 I want to hear how YOU decide first.

Todd and I have started looking ahead at Skoolology in 2027. You’ve already given us a lot of feedback about what you value here and what you’d like to see more of, so I’m not going to ask you to do that all over again. 😂❤️ But there is one direction we’re considering that I want to put in front of you before we make any decisions. We’re thinking about moving Skoolology to one paid membership for new members rather than multiple tiers. Why? Because the more we build this with you, the more we see that so much of what makes Skoolology work happens together. Someone brings a real build into the room. Another member sees something they didn't. Todd comes at it from one direction, I come at it from another. We ask questions. We test something. Someone shares what they know. We come back and figure out what happened. And we're beginning to wonder whether dividing that experience into membership tiers makes sense anymore. We'd rather make Skoolology simpler. One room. One membership. When you join, you're in. Then, when someone needs deeper individual support beyond the membership, we can meet that need separately rather than using tiers to determine how much of Skoolology they get to experience. And before anyone already here wonders, Wait…what does that mean for me? ❤️ You are our founding members. Our OGs! Your current pricing will be honored. And you will continue to receive our highest level of membership support. You helped us build this place. You have made Skoolology what it is, and you're shaping what it is becoming! Simplifying things for the people who come after you will not mean taking something away from you. In fact, we're thinking bigger about what membership can become. As we look toward 2027, we see Skoolology becoming even more of a home base for the whole build—not just your community, but the community-led business growing around it. A place to bring what you're building and get thoughtful eyes on it. To learn from research and from each other.

A conversation with @Elsebeth Fogh got me thinking about this. She’s been experimenting with some easier-to-answer questions in her community and noticing that more people seem willing to jump in. But she doesn’t want easy to answer to become meaningless to answer. And THAT got my attention. 👀 Because maybe sometimes we make people work too hard just to enter a meaningful conversation. A good conversation doesn’t necessarily have to start with a thoughtful paragraph. It might start with... “Yep. Me too.” A quick opinion. A funny story. 😂 One sentence that makes someone else say... “Wait...tell me more about that.” And suddenly we’re somewhere deeper. So maybe there are two different things to think about: How easy is it to ENTER the conversation? and Where can the conversation GO once someone is there? That brings me back to a question that's been on my mind lately... What is the biggest thing keeping the next member from getting the experience you want them to have? Maybe sometimes people aren't avoiding meaningful conversation. Maybe the doorway into it is just a little too high. I'd love to hear from you...
