The assistant in Aesop sprayed a fragrance on my wrist. Nice, a bit soapy and citrus to start with, but mellowing and becoming less sweet after a minute. She sprayed some on the other wrist. A woody smell with a fruity overlay, again darkening nicely. She then told me the price per bottle. So I said, 'I've got more shopping to do, so I'll walk around and see how these scents develop, then come back.' All of which I did apart from the last bit. £145 to smell a bit woody or a bit soapy seemed ...a bit much. But if someone was getting me a present I would go for the woody one. Three hours on it is still warm and rich.
