AD GOAL

I have been selling on Etsy now for the past 5 months with a rough monthly revenue of £600 a month with my ad goal at 3 USD a day and to increase visibility and awareness. I recently changed the ad goal to "Maximise my exposure to help compete against similar shops" and my sales have dropped massive to around £300 a month. Im not sure whether this is because of the time of year or whether the ads have made a huge impact on this. Could anyone let me know whether this could be affected by the ad change and if anyone has a better ad goal for my situation and if I should increase the ad budgeting ?
