🌱 From Travel to Academy Hockey – Confidence & Independence at 10 Years Old!!
Over a year ago, @Carson Hills and I started working together. Carson's family is from Virginia. And for those who don't know Virginia, that's not a very big hockey hub. So like many parents - they weren’t sure how to help him level up. And not going to lie, we struggled for the first bit trying to find his motivation to train. But yesterday, a year later, I asked Carson if you could go a week without training? I told him to completely "go nuts" - no hockey, no training, for entire week. And his reply was "well that's not going to be easy" of course - I laughed out loud. But more importantly, this was the moment I realized everything we've been working on finally clicked. Carson finally found his sense of ownership in his development. He also mentioned he's still not fully there yet. And I replied "of course, we're all still trying to figure it out" But now? No parents nagging him to train, he's showing up early and training even harder. And that's the beauty of coaching; it isn't about nagging players to do the right things. It's about creating a safe-space to start holding themselves accountable to their actions. And where's Carson now? He’s made the move from travel to a private academy team. Sometimes progress isn't by level - it's personal growth. And to us, that's a real win. πŸ’ͺ

Good Evening 1%er's πŸ’ͺ As we head into spring it's time to start thinking about how we're going to execute our off-season plans. 1. Next week will be the beginning of our off-season programming (Mon, April 6th) We will be working out 3x a week >>> Mon/Wed/Fri If you can't make the designated times I will expect you to complete your designated programs. Everyone will have a program that will take them from April thru August! Please remember we do not rise to our goals but sink to our systems. Our habits must be in alignment with our goals to reach those. This removes the friction of forcing yourself to be something. You just become it by simply being it everyday. 2. Short Story Time πŸ“š Lately I haven't been able to get my workouts in due to a couple minor injuries lately, my gf coming in and playing a ton of games lately. With the constant stress - my sleep hasn't been the greatest and the stress of playing so many games late night I've decided to jump in on research on how to better manage my sleep. Here's a quick reel of the what was apart of the longer podcast I've been listening to lately... πŸ“š Sleep Schedule Matters More - When you wake up is more important than what time you go to bed. Similar sleep schedule matters more! 3. Also for my females in the group there's a lot of evolving science & research backing on the supplementation of creatine. (Obviously this is not medical advice, more so thoughts around how to better manage energy levels as a growing women). Bonus 😴 Before bed I've been going lights off, brightness on full LOW and switching on and tuning into the outdoor boys as a bit of peace, quiet and connection to nature. Obviously being in nature is always better. Don't forget to touch grass! Love y'all βœŒοΈπŸ€

"You can't become anyone new if you're unwilling to give up who you were. You can't get anywhere new until you leave where you are. We always have to risk what we have for what we want." ~ Alex Hormozi Hope everyone is enjoying their March Break πŸ’ͺ As we slowly digest past season and have a mental reset from sports... We will be officially starting our off-season program around April 1st... Videos & Resources I've seen lately below πŸ“š - 1%er's Weekly Mail - Our Mindset heading into the off-season - Recording of Last Sunday's Accountability Calls - Athen's RockLobster Line Brawl - More On Ted Lasso... love the first 30s of the video "And I'm going to say this again so you didn't think it was a mistake the first time I said it... for me success is not about the wins and losses... it's about helping these young fellas be the best versions of themselves on and off the field... and it ain't always easy Trent but... neither is... growing up without someone believing in you." - Ted Lasso
