Hello everyone!
If you're looking to report MSK cases with more speed and confidence, you'll want to check out the interview below. I spoke with one of our fellows, last year, and he shares his experience in the Virtual MSK Fellowship and the real impact it had on his life. Enjoy! Heathcote

Q: What was it like before the fellowship, and could you summarize the situation you were in a year ago?
Traian Stroia: I mostly lacked confidence. I had almost no feedback regarding my reports. It was difficult because I am a young consultant radiologist, so I did not have so much experience. It is very hard to find someone who can help you with your MSK cases... Before, a knee was about 30 minutes. Now it is no more than five.
Q: Could you introduce yourself and say what you were doing professionally a year ago?
Traian Stroia: I am not an MSK-only based radiologist. I do a lot of CT and oncology and I am now even faster on all my reports and more confident. I work in a psychiatry hospital and also mostly in private practice. Only in private practice, MSK.
Q: What were the main problems you were having before with MSK cases?
Traian Stroia: The lack of feedback, that was the biggest issue. I did not know if my reports were good... And always having second thoughts. That report, was that a tear or not? Did I write that thing correctly?
Q: What has been the impact on your career?
Traian Stroia: I feel better. I am faster. I earn more money... Before, I had maybe 10 cases per day, CT and MRI, and now I am over 30 in the same amount of time. I have more time with my family and I am overall more satisfied with how my work is in general. Since doing the fellowship, my earnings have increased three or four times.
Q: How would you describe the fellowship process?
Traian Stroia: I was quite anxious at the beginning because I do not like speaking in public, but in the Q&A session you may not use your camera. I started with the theoretical part... then the Q&A session. I came with my case and I discussed it. I saw there that other people have almost the same issues as me... After two or three months, my confidence increased dramatically... You learn exponentially in two hours. There is no other method... If you try to take a book and read that, you are already one step behind.
Q: What is the Agten method, and why is it so useful?
Traian Stroia: Because it is not about general information; it is about the common things that we struggle with... I came with an ankle, another doctor comes with a knee, and another one with a wrist. For example, in my practice, I see wrists maybe twice a month, but in the Q&A, I can see three in an evening in two hours. That is the way you are exposed to so much information in two hours, and that is the way to learn.
Q: How has the fellowship changed your approach to MSK cases?
Traian Stroia: I have a search pattern... I know now the things that are important, and I do not lose time with things that do not matter. That is the most important part: knowing the things that matter for the patient and for the referring physician, and not losing time with long reports that no one reads.
Q: Have you got feedback from the clinicians since you have done the fellowship?
Traian Stroia: Yes. There are a few clinicians that gave me feedback, and I see an increase in my MSK cases overall. They are referring, they want especially reports from me and not other doctors. That is the satisfaction.
Q: If somebody was undecided, a radiologist thinking, "Should I go for the fellowship or not?" What would be your advice to them?
Traian Stroia: Just go straight away. It is by far the best investment I made. There is no other thing. Go straight away.
