Getting Clear on Your Outcomes
Lately I've been sitting a lot in how to get crystal clear on the outcomes I want to create.
When we are clear enough in our outcomes, then the path to produce it will become clear as well.
Example: Most founders, especially when their business is small, will say 'I want sales' and do everything in their power to produce sufficient or higher revenue in their business. But, if we're really honest with ourselves, some of those sales won't align with our actual goals.
Instead, we should take a closer look at exactly who we want to work with and the type of revenue we want to produce. Then, clearly define your sales goals and outcomes from here.
Signing anyone and everyone will either result in high churn or frustration on your end. Neither of these are the results you REALLY wanted to produce.
This can also show up in how you lead your team. Be honest about what success looks like in each role and the outcome you want that person to produce. This should be the subject of your 1:1's. There should be no room for misaligned expectations.
The truth is - clarity in outcomes should be a top priority in every single part of your business. And you should have a clear metric you can measure to see how you are stacking up towards reaching that outcome. And these should cascade to other elements of your business and each team member.
So, as we kick off Q4 with our eye to 2026, I want to know:
What outcomes are you committed to producing and how clearly have you defined them?
