Volume Over Perfection.

Why this matters

There's a story in the book Art and Fear about a ceramics teacher who split his class in two. One half was told to produce one high quality piece. The other half was told to just produce as much work as possible. At the end of the semester, all the best work came from the volume group.

What this means

When we take the pressure off needing to be perfect or incredible, we get to just practice. We do the thing, we learn how to do it, and the more we make, the more likely we are to make something good.

How to apply it

The principle is simple: make something first. You can make it good later. Don't wait for the perfect idea or the perfect take.

What's next

That's the challenge here. Just make stuff and put it out there. It's allowed to be shit. It's allowed to be boring. Just get out there and make something.
