SECRET ISRAELI BASE IN IRAQ
Israel, in preparations before the start of the war with Iran, built a basic base in the western desert of Iraq. They made a landing strip in the hard ground of the desert which was usable all the time till a rain storm softened the hard ground. It was made for 2 reasons. It had jets repair specialists that can fix problems, during flight in Israel Air Force jets, if they happened or needed. There was also a full team with helicopters to extract any pilot that had to eject in Iran. This team also helped the Americans in their pilot extraction out of Iran.
The base was only discovered a long time later by a sheep herder who noticed too much activity than usual in that area around the base . The Iraqi army came to verify what was happening there and they were attacked by the Israelis, so they fled.
