"Dude...once you learn cold email, you can launch any offer, any business, any idea... I launched my podcast agency within a week and knew it was a hit because I ran a campaign and got a ton of people applying the next day." - I was one of the fortunate (and very appreciative) ones who won the 15k celebration coaching gift. Most of those who've interacted with me in the community know that I am pretty new to Cold Email campaigns. I am learning as much as I can about this way of outreach.
Jonathan dropped some serious knowledge bombs about this, and I've got to tell you that I have been doing email wrong - it's not about spraying and praying with your outreach. Niche vs. general. WITH the right systems...
Here are my key takeaways from the call with Jonathan:
(Please note: This coaching call was specifically for the staffing/recruitment industry)
- Market Segmentation Approach:
- Segment target audiences as granularly as possible
- Don't write generic messages trying to reach everyone
- "When you speak to everybody, you're speaking to nobody" - JG
- Focus campaigns on specific industries/roles where you've had success (What roles have we placed well)
- Data-Driven Strategy:
- Use ChatGPT to break down job titles and roles - Fine-tune your ICP based on the research here
- Research which titles are most in demand
- Focus on markets where data is easily accessible
- Consider volume requirements - need enough potential targets (Use Apollo technique)
- Campaign Development:
- Research what roles are most common in target industries
- Use actual placement experience to inform messaging
- Name-drop relevant titles in opening lines - be very specific to their language
- Focus on staffing niches with good margins
- Industry Focus Advice:
- For recruitment, narrow down to specific sectors (e.g., biotech vs general finance)
- Look for industries that need volume hiring
- Match your service capacity to client needs
- Consider company size and hiring velocity
HIGHLY, recommend you connect with Jonathan if you need more tailored approach for Cold Email Coaching. He did not have a "I know more than you cocky attitude" but a "Hey, tell me where you're at" and he'll help you get where you want to go attitude.
Overall, great coaching call and I know have a MUCH CLEARER direction on where I need to start.
Alright - here's where the accountability comes into play...
Here are my public accountability steps based on the coaching call:
- I will watch Jay's 4-hour masterclass on YouTube (You can too here!)
- If it makes sense, then I'll join the "Insiders program" for more intentional approach
- If everything makes sense I'll focus on getting campaigns live within 2-3 weeks
- If everything doesn't make sense, I say F it and take 's advice on going the DFY route
If you see this post in a couple of weeks... feel free to call me out to see where I am at...
