Measuring Pistons with Caliper
Hey all,
Trying to do the right thing on a budget,
I’ve got a starret 3202, 0.001” accuracy, but I want to make sure I’m measuring correctly. I’ll be using this caliper to check piston to wall clearance and cam specs.
When measuring pistons, I go perpendicular to the piston, and I basically kind of move the caliper until in a radius until it’s snug. All the pistons came out at 4.055 “. My question is, should I just tighten once, or move in a radius like I do? If I try to eyeball the center they came out to 4.054”. These are early mahle pistons.
