Yesterday, the U.S. food pyramid flipped. Finally!! The world will follow.
For decades, you were told to fear fat, load up on grains and carbs, and chase low-cal everything. Meanwhile, chronic disease soared. Obesity. Diabetes. Cognitive decline. Anxiety and depression in adults and children. Fatty liver in 8-year-olds. The list could go on.
You weren’t broken. The system was. Functional and Nutritional medicine has known this!
But now? The pyramid has flipped.
Protein, healthy fats, and whole foods are the new foundation. Ultra-processed foods, carbs, and added sugars have been demoted. Remember, there is no essential daily requirement for carbs.
With this, the chronic disease tide will finally turn. Chronic disease will now be a choice.
Chronic Disease: The Current Load
• Chronic diseases account for 90% of the U.S.’s $4.9 trillion annual healthcare spending.
• 6 in 10 Americans live with at least one chronic condition; 4 in 10 have two or more.
Pediatric Chronic Disease:
• 30% of U.S. children and young adults (ages 5–25) now live with a chronic condition or functional limitation.
• Among children ages 5–17, prevalence rose from 23% in 1999 to over 30% by 2018, adding about 130,000 new cases per year.
• For young adults (18–25), prevalence increased from 18.5% to 29% over the same period.
They've been killing you for a reason.
BUT What If We Reversed or Cured Chronic Diseases?
Come join me where I will explore what post-chronic disease will look like.
