Protective Layers
Here's what changed everything for one of my clients:
Understanding that her clutter wasn't about the stuff—it was about her identity.
She was holding onto clothes from her corporate life even though she'd been self-employed for 3 years. Holding onto baby items even though her kids were teenagers. Holding onto an old version of herself because letting go felt like losing who she was.
The clutter was protecting her from the grief of change.
Once we addressed that layer—who she was becoming, not just what she was keeping—the physical release became natural.
Sometimes the real work isn't organizing. It's identity work.
This is why The CLEAR System™ includes the "R" which is Recalibration. We look at who you're becoming and design your space to support that version of you, not the version you used to be.
If your clutter feels tied to identity shifts (career changes, life transitions, aging, becoming/no longer being a parent), I get it. And I can help. Join me in Cozyism and let's talk.
