My #Feature Story - Why I started to play Saxophone
I was seven years old in 1994 and wanted to learn the saxophone.
My teacher said, “Bring a saxophone, and we can start.”
But just after reunification in East Germany, my parents couldn’t afford one.
So I began with the recorder—good training, but limiting.
In 1997, I finally got a loaner tenor saxophone from the music school, shiny and made in Taiwan.
My first heroes were my teacher (who played eight instruments!), Candy Dulfer, and Branford Marsalis—
his soprano solo still inspires me today (as you can hear below 😊)
Since 2023, I’ve been running two German-speaking Skool communities to inspire others about the saxophone.
Recently I started my first english community The classical Saxophone Studio and got my first 3 members 😃
What fascinates me most is its classical side, which I studied deeply—often more with violinists and pianists rather than saxophonists.
The saxophone’s versatility still amazes me.
Music has taken me around the world, and now I love sharing my experience to make the world a little more musical. 🎷🌍
