Lonely. That's the word I see most in members' answers to my community questions. Not sometimes, consistently.

And I totally get it. I had my children in countries where I knew no one, with no family around and a husband who worked 14 hour days. Expat life is an adventure and it can also be extremely isolating.

But that's only part of the story.

Expat mums are totally bad ass, even when it doesn't feel like it. We move countries, rebuild our lives from scratch, raise children between cultures, often without friends or family nearby, or anyone who truly gets it. The loneliness is real, and so is the strength that comes with it.
