Do you know this tool?
It’s a pretty old tool from the time of the Vikings and the medieval era. It was used to make cords for clothing or to hang objects from a belt. This tool is called a Lucet (braiding). It has the shape of a lyre and makes pretty square cords. You can use different thicknesses of fibers depending on the final use of the cord. Some are made of wood, others have a fork where 2 prongs were removed, and some are made of plastic. For my part, I have one in wood and the other in plastic. Both work very well; sometimes it’s just a matter of choosing the grip of this tool (small, large, plastic, or wood) to fit your way of working. It doesn’t replace an electric tool for speed, of course, but it can be very handy for making pretty and practical items. Let me show it to you: it’s called a Lucet. I’ve included photos of my Lucets and a video link to learn how to use this tool. The wooden lucet was bought on Amazon and the plastic one was printed by my partner.
