Born via scheduled C-section at 37 weeks due to placenta previa
History of acid reflux in early months with gurgling sounds when laid flat. He still has reflux
Constipation began around 4-5 months of age
Current bowel movements consist of hard balls, requiring manual extraction
Patient turns red and struggles significantly during bowel movement attempts
Currently using lactulose medication 10ml daily with the option to increase to 20ml
Intermittent use of suppositories for relief
Dietary interventions attempted include pear juice, prune juice, pears, and prunes with minimal success
Patient is combination fed with breast milk and formula, planning to wean soon
Initially breastfed but had latching difficulties
Patient is eating solids well with no food allergies noted
Mother reports patient is generally happy, sleeps 10 hours nightly, takes good naps
Recent history of ear infection and bronchiolitis approximately one month ago
Patient attended physical therapy for plagiocephaly from 3 months of age
He is not crawling and does not like to be put on his knees. If I sit him upright on his knees, he is fine, but does not like to be in the crawling position. He splays his legs.
He has had 6 adjustments and is starting to have more bowel movements but not consistently.
Mom is working and home to help him crawl and he is making a slow change.
Mom informed me today that he has an umbilical hernia. Pediatricians state it should not cause an issue.
I work the diaphragm, tongue, mandible, C1, S1 or S3, and the Sacrotuberous ligament. Right mid thoracics and bowels. She is starting him on Probiotics today, and he has been off of his medication until today since the baby did not poop over the weekend.
