State of the Collection Part 2
As promised, some photos. It's too much to post on a single post, so see more pics in the comments.
Some statistics:
Total fragrances in the collection among all types: 810
Expended fragrances (used up, sold, traded, given away, etc.): 137
Bottles (76mL - 125mL): 247
Small Bottles (10mL - 75mL): 130
Decants: 85
Manufacturer samples: 313
Other presentations (rollerballs, coffrets, tins, splashers, etc.): 35
Oldest fragrance in my collection: Escada Pour Homme (purchased in 1993 or 4)
Newest fragrance in my collection: Red Rum and Flamango from Third Eye Fragrances (arrived on 11/03/2025). I have Mauboussin Cristal Oud in transit to arrive on Friday, but nothing beyond that.
Most expensive total paid: Stora Skuggan Hexensalbe $180 for a 30mL bottle
Most expensive per mL: Aaron Terrence Hughes Onyx ~$10/mL for a 5mL decant from MaxAroma (one of the many things that have soured me from purchasing from them)
Cheapest total paid: Cuba Orange $8 for a 50mL
Cheapest total per mL: Anecdote Havana Lounge ~$0.11/mL for a 100mL bottle (about $11) and it's a great dupe of Jazz Club with decent performance
Biggest regret purchase: right now it's Liquid Brun, though I'm hopeful that will change
Biggest delight purchase: Mauboussin Une Histoire d'Homme Irresistible
Biggest change in attitude (hated it, now I love it): Jaques Fath Velours Boise
Biggest change in attitude (loved it, now I hate it): Halloween Man X
Pic 1: Preferred line up for SOTD this week. I give these priority and tend to plan my SOTD from these
Pic 2: Active rotation at any given time. I will often pull from these for my SOTD or SOTE
Pic 3 - some of the samples and decants. The ones in the wooden stands are seasonal and rotate out occasionally. The ones in the acrylic case are 10mL bottles from the houses and the ones I got from Scentbird back when I had a subscription with them.
Pic 4: Perfume jail. I'm letting these macerate, or they are ones that I just don't wear very often so I rotate them down here.
Pic 5: Main collection part 1
Pic 6: Main collection part 2
Pic 7: Main collection part 3
Pic 8: Imaginary Authors / Dua / ATH / personal favorites and my 5mL decants from Scents Angel.
Pic 9: Dupes. The John Varvatos XX Elixir is new and I have yet to give it a wear, so it's there just for the pic. The Guess Red is a great fragrance but has terrible performance (like 2-3 hours on a good day).
Pic 10: Middle Eastern shelf. Most of these are dupes, but there are some originals. The ones with the decorative domed tops I've had for about a year, and had never seen before. I got them as part of a press release and did a write up on them for a couple of publications. Other than that I' never saw them in the wild until a few weeks ago when they started popping up at rack stores. They are very good, and if y'all want me to share my thoughts and reviews on them, I will do so. I've tried to only post about ones that I actually buy, so I've not shared them because of that.
More in comments below.
Please feel free to ask any questions. I need a better way to store them, but for now, this is what I have.
