SOTD: Valentino BIR Purple Melancholia

I’ve heard mixed reviews about this one and still blind bought it to try for myself.

I’ll start by saying I actually like it, it’s nothing ground breaking but it’s a pleasant scent. I know for the brothers here who chase the complexity of fragrances this wouldn’t be for them.

Ive seen reviews saying this is similar to JPG Le Beau. I don’t own any JPGs so I couldn’t tell you for sure or not.

To me this fragrance opens up with a nice hit of spicy cardamom mixed with a slightly sweet coconut and some lavender. It’s definitely not complex as it stays the same pretty much throughout. As the wear progressed I was able to pick up some amber but not much as the coconut and spice dominate.

Longevity on my first wear was about 6ish hours and projection was pretty good. It’s an EDT so I’m not mad about the longevity. Overall I’d call this a win. Could be a bit biased because Valentino is in my top 5 for designer houses.
